Pharmacodynamics.
Jodantipyrine has anti-inflammatory, immunostimulatory and interferonogenic properties. It stabilizes biological membranes and inhibits virus penetration into the cell. It is an active inducer of alpha and beta interferon, stimulates cellular and humoral immunity. It is active against tick-borne encephalitis virus, hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.
Pharmacokinetics.
Fastly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, bioavailability is 80%. Up to 95% is metabolized in the liver. Urinary excretion through the kidneys by active transport to the renal tubules: 3-5% unchanged, 80-90%) – inactive metabolites. It has high affinity to tissue proteins. Binding to blood proteins is 25%. The elimination half-life is about 6 hours.
Indications
Tick-borne encephalitis Iodantipyrine is used for treatment and prevention of tick-borne encephalitis in adults, for complex treatment of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.

How to take, the dosage
Iodantinopyrin tablets are taken orally after meals.
Prevention and treatment of tick-borne encephalitis. Treatment:
About 300 mg (3 tablets) – 3 times a day for the first 2 days; 200 mg (2 tablets) – 3 times a day for the next 2 days; 100 mg (1 tablet) – 3 times a day for the next 5 days.
Prevention:
- after a tick bite:
- for 300 mg (3 tablets) – 3 times a day for the first 2 days;
- for 200 mg (2 tablets) – 3 times a day for the next 2 days;
- for 100 mg (1 tablet) – 3 times a day for the next 5 days.
- in the period of stay in places associated with possible tick bites:
- for 200 mg (2 tablets) once a day for the entire period;
- for 200 mg (2 tablets) 3 times a day for 2 days before visiting places,
- related to possible tick bite.
Treatment of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS).
The drug should be given within five days of onset.
200 mg (2 tablets) 3 times daily for the first four days;
100 mg (1 tablet) 3 times daily for the next five days.
Interaction
Antacids and H2 receptor antagonists reduce absorption of the drug. When co-administration with oral antidiabetic drugs, barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, indirect anticoagulants, Iodantinopyrin increases their effect by displacing them from binding to proteins.
Special Instructions
In the treatment and prevention of tick-borne encephalitis it is not recommended to use Iodantipyrin and anti-tick-borne immunoglobulin together. In case of focal forms of tick-borne encephalitis, specific immunoglobulin is prescribed first according to the usual scheme and 2-3 days later Iodantipyrin is prescribed in the indicated dosages.

Contraindications
Individual intolerance to Iodantinopyrin and other iodine-containing drugs, hyperfunction of the thyroid gland, marked liver and kidney function abnormalities, pregnancy and lactation, children.
Side effects
The drug is mildly toxic and well tolerated. In some cases, dyspeptic symptoms, skin rash, itching, angioedema and other allergic reactions are possible. When discontinuing the drug, these phenomena disappear.
