The mechanism of action of ibuprofen, a propionic acid derivative of the group of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), is due to the inhibition of the synthesis of prostaglandins – mediators of pain, inflammation and hyperthermia.

Indications

Headache, toothache, migraine, painful menstruation, neuralgia, back pain, joint pain, muscle and rheumatic pain, fever with flu and colds.

How to take, the dosage

Fizzy tablets (as a solution) and film-coated tablets are taken internally after meals.

Doses of Ibuprofen are chosen individually so that the desired therapeutic effect is achieved by using the lowest possible dose. Fizzy tablet of the drug Ibuprofen-Hemofarm completely dissolved in a glass (200 ml) of water, and the resulting solution is drunk immediately. Fizzy tablets should not be swallowed, chewed or sucked in the mouth.

Interaction

Simultaneous use of ibuprofen with the following drugs should be avoided:

Acetylsalicylic acid: except for low doses of acetylsalicylic acid (not more than 75 mg per day), prescribed by a physician, because the combined use may increase the risk of side effects. When concomitant use ibuprofen reduces anti-inflammatory and antiplatelet effects of acetylsalicylic acid (increased incidence of acute coronary failure is possible in patients receiving low doses of acetylsalicylic acid as antiplatelet agents after starting ibuprofen administration).

Other NSAIDs, in particular selective COX-2 inhibitors: concomitant use of two or more drugs from the group of NSAIDs should be avoided because of a possible increase in the risk of side effects.

Special Instructions

It is recommended to take the drug in the shortest possible course and in the minimum effective dose required to eliminate the symptoms. If it is necessary to take the drug for more than 10 days, it is necessary to consult a physician.

In patients with bronchial asthma or allergic disease in the acute stage, as well as in patients with a history of bronchial asthma/allergic disease the drug may provoke bronchospasm.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to ibuprofen or any of the ingredients of the drug;

A history of gastrointestinal ulcer bleeding or perforation triggered by use of NSAIDs;

severe heart failure (New York Heart Association (NYHA) Class IV;

severe hepatic failure or active liver disease;

severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance < 30 ml/min), confirmed hyperkalemia;

cerebrovascular or other bleeding;

Hemophilia and other clotting disorders (including hypocoagulation), hemorrhagic diathesis;

pregnancy (3rd trimester);

children under 12 years of age.

In the presence of the conditions specified in this section, consult a physician before using the drug.

Side effects

The risk of side effects can be minimized by taking the drug in a short course, in the lowest effective dose necessary to eliminate symptoms.

Overdose

In children, symptoms of overdose may occur after taking a dose exceeding 400 mg/kg body weight. In adults the dose-dependent effect of overdose is less pronounced. The half-life of the drug in overdose is 1.5-3 hours.

Pregnancy use

It is contraindicated in the III trimester of pregnancy, in the I and II trimester with caution.

The drug may be used during breast-feeding (with caution).
