Hydrocortisone, eye ointment 0.5% 5 g

GCS for local application in ophthalmology.

Reduces inflammatory cell infiltrates, reduces migration of leukocytes and lymphocytes in the area of inflammation.

It has anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory effect.

Composition

Eye ointment 0.5% white, white with yellowish tinge or yellow.

Active ingredient:

Hydrocortisone acetate.

Excipients:

Nipagin (methylparahydroxybenzoate or methylparaben),

Vaseline.

How to take, the dosage

1-2 cm of eye ointment is injected into the conjunctival sac 2-3 times a day.

Interaction

There is a risk of cataracts when antipsychotics (neuroleptics), carbutamide and azathioprine are used with GCS.

The concomitant use of GCS with choline blockers (including antihistamines, tricyclic antidepressants) and nitrates increases intraocular pressure.

Special Instructions

When using eye drops, the time interval between their application and application of the ointment should be at least 15 min.

If the ointment is used for more than 2 weeks and if there is a history of glaucoma, the intraocular pressure should be monitored.

Contact lenses should not be used during treatment with the drug.

Impact on driving and operating machinery

At 30 minutes after using the ointment, it is necessary to refrain from activities requiring increased attention.

Contraindications

With caution prescribe the drug in arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, lactation.

Side effects

Burning, injected sclerae.

With long-term use – posterior subcapsular cataract, exophthalmos, tendency to develop secondary fungal, increased intraocular pressure, bacterial or viral eye infections, trophic changes of the cornea.
