Pharmacodynamics

Antimicrobial drug for the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the throat and oral cavity. The mechanism of action of Gramicidin C is connected with increase of permeability of cytoplasmic membrane of a microbial cell, which breaks its resistance and causes cell death. The drug decreases inflammation, alleviates discomfort in the throat and makes swallowing easier.

Pharmacokinetics

Due to low systemic absorption there is no data on pharmacokinetics of the drug. The drug has local action and is practically not absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, which leads to almost complete absence of systemic effects.

Indications

Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the mouth and throat:

acute tonsillitis (tonsillitis);
pharyngitis;
periodontal disease;
gingivitis;
stomatitis.

calcium stearate – 0.0060 g
lactose (milk sugar) – 0.44169 g
sucrose (sugar) – 0.1482 g
food flavoring – 0.00198 g
sodium saccharinate
(soluble saccharin) – 0.00063 g

Pregnancy

If it is necessary to use the drug during pregnancy, you should consult your doctor to assess the balance of benefit for the mother and potential risk to the fetus. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; lactation period; children up to 4 years old.

Side Effects

In some cases, allergic reactions to the components of the drug are possible.

Interaction

Gramicidin C enhances the effects of other local and systemic antimicrobial agents.

Overdose

Symptoms: taking doses higher than recommended may cause gastrointestinal disorders characteristic of overdose of other antibiotics due to changes in bacterial flora and superinfection: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Treatment: stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Storage conditions

In a pack, in a dry place at a temperature not exceeding 25 °C.

Keep out of the reach of children.
