Pharmacodynamics Laxative, softens and lubricates hardened fecal masses, facilitates their passage through the large intestine, has an irritating effect on the intestinal mucosa, reflexively stimulating intestinal motility. Pharmacokinetics It is practically not absorbed by rectal administration.
Indications
The drug Glycerin is indicated for use in adults and children aged 2 to 18 years: – for the symptomatic treatment of constipation of various etiologies (when the use of oral medications is impossible),
– to prevent constipation in patients who cannot strain during bowel movements.
Special instructions
Before using Glycerin, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
In case of renal failure, the drug should be used with caution.
Systematic use is not recommended. Discontinue treatment once normal intestinal motility has been restored.
Do not use the drug for more than 7 days.
Do not lubricate suppositories with mineral liquid or solid oils. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using suppositories.
Children
Do not use the drug in children under 2 years of age.
Driving vehicles and working with machinery
The use of the drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or machinery.

Composition
Each suppository contains 2.11 g glycerol (glycerol).
Other ingredients (excipients) are: macrogol 400, stearic acid 95, sodium carbonate decahydrate.
Pregnancy

The use of the drug should be avoided in the first trimester of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the use of the drug is possible only if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the child.
Lactation
It is possible to use the drug during breastfeeding.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug Glycerin:
• if you are allergic to glycerol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6 of the leaflet),
• for irritable bowel syndrome,
• for intestinal obstruction,
• for appendicitis,
• for bleeding,
• for diarrhea,
• for hemorrhoids in the acute stage,
• for anal fissures,
• for inflammatory diseases and tumors of the rectum,
• for abdominal pain of unknown origin,
• for hemorrhagic rectocolitis,
• in children under 2 years of age,
• during pregnancy (first trimester).
Side Effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them.
When using the drug, the following adverse reactions are possible (based on the available data, the frequency of occurrence cannot be determined):
– allergic reactions;
– local reactions (itching, burning in the anus);
– weakening of the physiological process of defecation (with long-term use).
Interaction
If it is necessary to use other rectal medications, an interval between their use of at least 1 hour should be observed.
Overdose
A symptom of an overdose is frequent loose stools. In case of overdose, the drug should be discontinued.
