Pharmacological properties: vitamin

Vitamin of group B (vitamin Bc, vitamin B9), can be synthesized by intestinal microflora. In the body, folic acid is reduced to tetrahydrofolic acid, which is a coenzyme involved in various metabolic processes, is necessary for normal maturation of megaloblasts and formation of normoblasts, stimulates erythropoiesis, is involved in the synthesis of amino acids (including glycine, methionine), nucleic acids, purines, pyrimidines, choline and histidine.

Indications

• treatment of folate deficiency anemia;
• hypo-and avitaminosis of folic acid, including tropical and non-tropical sprue, malnutrition.

Composition

Per tablet

The active ingredient:

Folioic acid – 1.0 mg

Particularly excipients:

sucrose – 65.0 mg

potato starch – 33.0 mg

stearic acid -1.0 mg

Directions for use

• At the mouth, after meals.
• The drug is taken at 1 mg (1 tablet) per day. With high doses, resistance may occur.

The course of treatment is 20-30 days.

Contraindications

High sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug; B12-deficiency (pernicious) anemia; sugar/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome; children under 18 years of age.

With caution

Folio-deficiency anemia with cyanocobalamin deficiency.

Overdose

Symptoms: cases of folic acid overdose in humans have not been described.

Treatment: in case of overdose it is recommended to cancel the drug, gastric lavage, intake of activated charcoal, if necessary – symptomatic therapy.

Pregnancy use

The drug may be recommended in this dosage during pregnancy.

Breastfeeding

The use of the drug in this dosage is not recommended during breastfeeding because folic acid passes into the breast milk.
