Encevir causes formation of specific immunity to tick-borne encephalitis virus in people; produced from the virus strain isolated in the territory of Russia, provides protection against all known subtypes of tick-borne encephalitis virus.

Indications
It is used for active prophylaxis of tick-borne encephalitis in persons from the age of 3 years.

Composition
Contains in one dose (0.5 ml):
Chicken embryo protein not more than 0.5 µg,
Human donor albumin not more than 250 µg,
Aluminum hydroxide gel from 0.30 to 0.50 mg.
The vaccine contains no antibiotics, formaldehyde or preservatives.
How to take, the dosage
The initial course of vaccination consists of two intramuscular injections of 0.5 ml of the vaccine at intervals of 5-7 months.
For emergency prophylaxis a double dose of 0.5 ml is recommended at 1 to 2 month intervals
Revaccination is carried out once in a dose of 0.5 ml one year after completion of the primary course of vaccination.
Supplementary long-term revaccinations are performed once every 3 years. In centers with a high risk of infection the entire healthy population with the possibility of contact with ticks is vaccinated.
The vaccine is given intramuscularly in the deltoid region of the shoulder.
Contraindications
Side effects
In some cases local and general reactions may develop after the vaccine administration. Local reactions are expressed as redness, swelling, painfulness at the injection site, a slight increase in regional lymph nodes is possible. The duration of the reactions does not exceed 3-5 days.
General reactions may develop in the first two days and are manifested as temperature increase from 37.1oC to 38.0oC in 15-19% of vaccinated persons, headache, malaise, muscle and joint pains. Their duration does not exceed 3 days.
In rare cases, allergic reactions can accompany vaccination, so people should be under medical supervision for 30 minutes after vaccination.
