Myotropic antispasmodic, has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract (mainly large intestine). It eliminates spasm without affecting normal intestinal peristalsis. It has no anticholinergic effect.
Pharmacokinetics
In oral administration, it undergoes presystemic hydrolysis and is not detected in plasma. It is metabolized in the liver to veratric acid and mebeverine alcohol. It is excreted mainly by kidneys as metabolites, in small amounts – with bile.
The mebeverine capsules have properties of prolonged release. Even after repeated administration, there is no significant cumulation.
Indications
Biliary dyskinesia, Bloating, Meteorism, Colic, Constipation, DiarrheaSymptomatic treatment for pain, cramps, bowel dysfunction and discomfort associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Symptoms may include: abdominal pain, cramps, feeling of bloating and flatulence, changes in stool frequency (diarrhea, constipation or alternating diarrhea and constipation), changes in stool consistency.

Excipients:
lactose monohydrate – 97 mg,
potato starch – 45 mg,
povidone K25 – 5.5 mg,
talc – 12 mg,
magnesium stearate – 5.5 mg.
Contents of the shell: talc – 40 mg, sucrose – 79 mg, gelatin – 0.4 mg, acacia gum – 0.4 mg, carnauba wax – 0.3 mg.
How to take, the dosage
Orally, 20 minutes before a meal, without chewing and drinking water – 200 mg 2 times a day (morning and evening).
Interaction
Animal studies have shown no interaction between the drug Duspatalin® and ethanol.
Special Instructions
Before taking the drug Duspatalin ® it is necessary to consult a doctor in case of:
- if symptoms occur for the first time;
- unintentional and unexplained weight loss;
- anemia;
- rectal bleeding or blood in the stool;
- fever;
- over 50 years of age and if symptoms first occurred;
- previous use of antibiotics.
Contact your doctor if the condition worsens or symptoms do not improve after 2 weeks of use.

Side effects
Skin: urticaria (allergic rash), angioedema (serious allergic reaction, which may include: difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat), facial edema, exanthema (skin rash).
Immune system: hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic reactions – serious allergic reactions, which may include: difficulty breathing, rapid pulse, a sharp decrease in blood pressure (weakness and dizziness), sweating).
Overdose
In case of overdose with Duspatalin® it is necessary to consult a physician immediately.
Symptomatic treatment is recommended.
Pregnancy use
It is not recommended to use Duspatalin® during pregnancy.
Duspatalin® should not be taken during breast-feeding.
