The combination of hesperidin + diosmin has venotonic and angioprotective properties. It reduces venous distensibility and venous stasis, in the microcirculation – reduces capillary permeability and increases their resistance, improves indices of venous hemodynamics. It has an effect on the following venous plethysmographic parameters: venous capacity, venous extensibility, time of venous emptying.
The optimal effect is achieved when taking 1000 mg. The combination of hesperidin + diosmin increases venous tone by reducing the time of venous emptying. In patients with signs of marked microcirculatory disorders an increase in capillary resistance is noted.
The combination of hesperidin + diosmin is effective in treating chronic diseases of the veins of the lower limbs, as well as in the treatment of hemorrhoids.

Pharmacokinetics
The drug Detravenol is mainly excreted through the intestine. The average of about 14% of the administered dose is excreted by the kidneys.
Half-life period is 11 hours.
The drug is actively metabolized, which is proved by the presence of phenolic acids in the urine.

Indications

Trophic ulcers, Severity and pain in the legs, varicose veins, hemorrhoidsTherapy of symptoms of chronic diseases of the veins (elimination and relief of symptoms).
Therapy of symptoms of venous and lymphatic insufficiency:

• Pain;
• cramps of the lower extremities;
• feeling of heaviness and tumescence in the legs;
• “tired” legs.

Active ingredient

Purified micronized flavonoid fraction (diosmin, flavonoids in terms of hesperidin)

Composition

Per 1 tablet:

• active ingredient: purified micronized flavonoid fraction, including: diosmin (90%) – 450,000 mg; flavonoids in terms of hesperidin (10%) – 50,000 mg.
• excillary substances (core): gelatin – 13,500 mg, sodium carboxymethyl starch – 27,000 mg, magnesium stearate – 6,500 mg, microcrystalline cellulose – up to 650,000 mg.
• coating composition: opadray II 85F240012 Pink – 20,000 mg: polyvinyl alcohol – 8,000 mg, macrogol-3350 – 4,876 mg, iron oxide red dye – 0.080 mg, iron oxide yellow dye – 0.044 mg, talc – 2.960 mg, titanium dioxide – 4.040 mg.

How to take, the dosage

The recommended dose for venous lymphatic insufficiency is 2 tablets per day, preferably in the morning, with a meal.
The duration of treatment may be several months (up to 12 months). In case of recurrent symptoms the treatment course may be repeated upon the doctor’s recommendation.
Recommended dosage in case of acute hemorrhoids – 6 tablets per day (3 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets in the evening) for 4 days followed by 4 tablets per day (2 tablets in the morning and 3 tablets in the evening) for the next 3 days.
Recommended dosage for chronic hemorrhoids – 2 tablets per day.

Special Instructions

Before starting to take the drug Detravenol, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
In case of exacerbation of hemorrhoids, the prescription of Detravenol does not replace the specific treatment of other anal disorders.
The duration of treatment should not exceed the period specified in the section “Dosage and administration”. If the symptoms persist after the recommended course of therapy, the patient should be examined by a proctologist, who will determine the further therapy.
In the presence of venous circulatory disorders the maximum effect of treatment is achieved by a combination of therapy with a healthy (balanced) lifestyle, it is advisable to avoid long exposures to the sun, prolonged standing on feet and reducing excessive body weight. Walking and in some cases wearing stockings can improve blood circulation.

Side effects

Central nervous system: rare – headache, dizziness, general malaise.
Gastrointestinal tract: frequently – diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, rarely – colitis, unspecified frequency – abdominal pain.
Skin and subcutaneous fat: rare – skin rash, itching, urticaria, unspecified frequency – isolated edema of face, lips, eyelids, in exceptional cases – angioedema.
