Pharmgroup:

Antiviral and immunomodulatory drug. Inducer of interferon synthesis.

Pharmaceutical action:

Immunomodulator. Cycloferon® is a low molecular weight interferon inducer, which determines a wide range of its biological activity (antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory).

Cicliferon® is effective against herpes viruses, influenza and other pathogens of acute respiratory diseases.

It has direct antiviral action by suppressing viral reproduction at early stages (1-5 days) of the infection process, reducing the virulence of the viral progeny, resulting in the formation of defective viral particles. It increases nonspecific resistance of the organism against viral and bacterial infections.

Pharmacokinetics:

After oral administration of the drug in a daily dose, Cmax in plasma is reached after 2-3 hours, the concentration gradually decreases by 8 hours, after 24 hours the active substance is found in trace amounts.

The T1/2 is 4-5 hours. Administration of the drug Cycloferon® in recommended doses does not cause conditions for its cumulation in the body.

Indications

In adults in the treatment of: influenza and acute respiratory diseases; herpetic infection.

In children from four years of age in the complex therapy: influenza and acute respiratory infections; herpetic infection.

In children from four years of age for the prevention of influenza and acute respiratory infections.

Active ingredient

Composition

polysorbate 80 – 0.27 mg,

methacrylic acid and ethyl acrylate copolymer – 23.21 mg,

How to take, the dosage

Orally once a day 30 minutes before a meal, without chewing, with ½ cup of water, in age dosages:

In children 4-6 years old: 150 mg (1 tablet) per dose;
children 7-11 years old: 300-450 mg (2-3 tablets) per dose;
adults and children over 12 years old: 450-600 mg (3-4 tablets) per dose.
It is reasonable to repeat the course 2-3 weeks after the first course.

In adults:

In the treatment of influenza and acute respiratory diseases the drug is taken on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th day (treatment course of 20 tablets). Treatment should begin at the first symptoms of the disease.
In the severe course of the flu six pills are taken on the first day. If necessary symptomatic therapy (antipyretic, analgesic, expectorants) should be additionally carried out.
In case of herpes infection the preparation is taken on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 23rd day (treatment course – 40 tablets). The treatment is most effective when the first symptoms of the disease.
In children from four years:

In influenza and acute respiratory diseases the drug is taken in age-appropriate doses on 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23 days. The course of treatment consists of 5 to 10 shots depending on the severity of the condition and severity of clinical symptoms.
In case of herpes infection the drug is taken on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 11th, 14th day of treatment. The course of treatment may vary depending on the severity of the condition and severity of clinical symptoms.
For emergency non-specific prevention of flu and acute respiratory diseases (in direct contact with a patient with flu or acute respiratory diseases of other etiology, during an epidemic of flu): on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th day. After a break of 72 hours (three days) the course continues on the 11th, 14th, 17th, 20th, 23rd day. The total course consists of 5 to 10 doses.

Interaction

Special Instructions

Cycloferon has no effect on the ability to drive vehicles.

In case of thyroid disease, it is necessary to consult an endocrinologist.

If the next dose of the drug is missed, the course should be continued at the first opportunity without regard to time intervals and doubling the dosage according to the initial regimen.

If there is no therapeutic effect, a doctor should be seen.

Contraindications

With caution

In case of severe digestive diseases (erosions, stomach and/or duodenal ulcers, gastritis and duodenitis) and allergic reactions in the history, always consult your doctor before taking the drug.

Side effects

According to the World Health Organization, adverse effects are classified according to the frequency of their development as follows:

– very frequent (≥ 1/10);
– frequent (≥ 1/100 – < 1/10);
– infrequent (≥ 1/1000 – < 1/100);
– rare (≥ 1/10000 – < 1/1000);
– very rare (< 1/10000);
– frequency unknown (cannot be determined on the basis of available data).
Immune system disorders: very rare – angioedema.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: very rare – rash, urticaria.
If any of the adverse effects mentioned in the instructions are aggravated, or if you notice any other adverse effects not specified in the instructions, inform the doctor.

Overdose

Symptoms: vomiting, drowsiness, tremor, excessive decrease in blood pressure, coma.

Treatment: gastric lavage, administration of activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy. There is no specific antidote.

Pregnancy use

The use is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
