Belogent has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antiproliferative and antipruritic effects.
Betamethasone has anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, antiproliferative and antipruritic effects. When applied to the skin surface, it has fast and strong action in the area of inflammation reducing the severity of objective symptoms (erythema, edema, lichenification) and subjective sensations (itching, irritation, pain).
Gentamicin has broad-spectrum antibacterial (bactericidal) action against most Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms, including Streptococcus strains (beta-hemolytic, alpha-hemolytic), Staphylococcus aureus (coagulase-positive, coagulase-negative and some strains producing penicillinase), Proteus, E. coli.
Indications
Dermatoses, allergic and inflammatory skin diseases responding to therapy with topical corticosteroids, the course of which is complicated by bacterial infection or there is a risk of its adhesion in children from 1 year and adults:
Active ingredient
Composition
1 g of ointment for external use contains:
acting substances:
betamethasone dipropionate 0.64 mg in terms of betamethasone – 0.5 mg,
gentamicin sulfate (in terms of gentamicin base)1 mg;
accompaniettes:
liquid paraffin – 50 mg;
soft white paraffin – 1000 mg
How to take, the dosage
Externally, the ointment is applied to the affected area of the skin in a thin layer in the amount necessary to cover the affected surface, rubbing gently, twice a day.
On areas of denser skin (elbows, palms, feet) and places from which the drug is easily rubbed off, it can be applied more frequently, but no more than 4 times a day (for cream).
The duration of a continuous course of treatment is usually no more than 4 weeks.
To prevent relapses when treating chronic conditions, treatment should be continued for some time after all symptoms have disappeared.
The therapy may be repeated more than once during the year.
The ointment can be used in children from 1 year of age with caution and for the shortest time possible.
Interaction
No clinically significant drug interactions of Belogent with other medicinal products have been described.
Special Instructions
The product is for external use only.
Long-term use on the face is not recommended because it can cause rosacea, perioral dermatitis and acne.
Should not use in the eye area because of the potential for contact with the mucosa, which could lead to cataracts, glaucoma, fungal eye infections and exacerbation of herpes infections.
Some areas of the body (axillae, groin folds) where there is natural occlusion are more at risk for stretch marks, so use in these areas should be of short duration.
If a fungal infection develops on the skin, additional use of an antifungal agent is necessary.
In prolonged, continuous use, particularly in children, over large areas of skin, application to skin with compromised integrity or when used under an occlusive dressing, systemic adverse events may develop, but the likelihood is extremely small.
Pediatric use. Can be used in children, with caution and for short periods of time. The duration of treatment should be as short as possible. The drug should not be used in children under bandages and especially under plastinated diapers, since it increases absorption of the drug and increases the risk of side effects.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms. Does not affect the ability to operate vehicles and mechanisms.
Contraindications
Side effects
They are mild in nature.
Rarely (as well as with other GKS) hypersensitivity reactions (burning, itching, redness), acne-like changes, hypopigmentation, stretch marks, skin atrophy, hypertrichosis, telangiectasia may develop.
If hypersensitivity reactions occur the therapy should be discontinued and the patient should consult a physician.
Overdose
Systemic side effects are possible with prolonged continuous use, especially in children, over large areas of skin, application to skin with compromised integrity, or use under an occlusive dressing, but are extremely unlikely.
Pregnancy use
Possible if the expected effect of therapy exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.
In pregnancy, the use of Belogent should not be prolonged and should, if possible, be limited to small areas of skin.
In the period of breastfeeding, only for strict indications, but Belogent should not be applied to the mammary gland before breastfeeding.
