Notropic, facilitates GABA-mediated transmission of nerve impulses in the central nervous system (direct effect on GABAergic receptors). The tranquilizing effect is combined with an activating effect. It also has antiaggregant, antioxidant and some anticonvulsant effects.

It improves the functional state of the brain by normalizing its metabolism and influence on the cerebral blood flow (increases the volumetric and linear velocity, reduces the vascular resistance, improves microcirculation, has anti-aggregant effect). It prolongs the latent period and shortens the duration and severity of nystagmus.

It does not affect the choline and adrenoreceptors. It reduces vasovagetic symptoms (including headache, feeling of heaviness in the head, sleep disorders, irritability, emotional lability). With a course of treatment it increases physical and mental performance (attention, memory, speed and accuracy of sensory-motor reactions).

Limits manifestations of asthenia (improves well-being, increases interest and initiative (motivation of activity)) without sedation or agitation. Helps to reduce feelings of anxiety, tension and restlessness, and normalizes sleep.

In the elderly, it does not cause depression of the central nervous system, muscular relaxation effects are most often absent.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption is high and penetrates well into all tissues of the body and through the blood-brain barrier (about 0.1% of the administered dose of the drug penetrates into the brain tissue, and to a greater extent in young and elderly people). It is evenly distributed in the liver and kidneys. Metabolized in liver is 80-95%, metabolites are not pharmacologically active. It does not cumulate. After 3 hours it is excreted by the kidneys, while the concentration in brain tissue is not decreased and is detectable for 6 hours. About 5% is excreted unchanged by kidneys, partially with bile.

Composition

Active ingredient:
aminophenylbutyric acid hydrochloride – 50 mg.
Excipients: hyprolose, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose, magnesium stearate.
Hard gelatin capsules contain: water, gelatin, azorubine dye (E 122), brilliant blue dye (E 133), quinoline yellow dye (E 104), methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, titanium dioxide (E 171).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, children under 3 years of age.

With caution

For erosive and ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract, liver failure.

Side Effects

Drowsiness, nausea. Increased irritability, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, headache (at first doses), allergic reactions.

Overdose

Symptoms: severe drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, fatty liver (ingestion of more than 7 g), eosinophilia, decreased blood pressure, impaired renal function.
