Pharmacodynamics

Aminalon is a nootropic agent, restores metabolic processes in the brain, promotes utilization of glucose by the brain and removal of toxic products of metabolism. It increases thinking productivity, improves memory, has a positive effect on the restoration of movement and speech after impaired cerebral circulation.

It has mild hypotensive effect, reduces initial high blood pressure and severity of symptoms caused by hypertension (dizziness, insomnia), slightly reduces heart rate. It has moderate antihypoxic and anticonvulsant effect.

In patients with diabetes it reduces glucose content; when the blood glucose content is normal, it has the opposite effect (due to glycogenolysis).

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption is fast, fairly complete. TCmax is 60 minutes, then the concentration decreases rapidly, after 24 hours in plasma is undetectable.

Indications

• Residual phenomena: craniocerebral trauma, stroke;
• cerebrovascular insufficiency, discirculatory encephalopathy with impaired memory, attention, speech, dizziness and headache;
• Alcoholic encephalopathy, alcoholic polyneuropathy, cerebral palsy, consequences of craniocerebral birth trauma in children, mental retardation, motion sickness (seasickness and airsickness) symptoms.

Composition

1 film-coated tablet contains:

the active ingredient:

gamma-aminobutyric acid 250 mg,

excipients:

sucrose (refined granulated sugar), 27.2 mg;

magnesium stearate monohydrate, 2.8 mg,

coating:

magnesium hydroxycarbonate (magnesium carbonate basic), 85.92 mg; wheat flour, 17.26 mg

How to take, the dosage

Internal, before meals. The daily dose for adults is 3 – 3.75 g; for children 1 – 3 years – 1 – 2 g/day, 4 – 6 years – 2 – 3 g/day, over 7 years – 3 g/day.

The daily dose is divided into 3 doses.

The treatment is prolonged (from 2 to 3 weeks to 2 to 4 months).

In order to prevent and treat motion sickness adults – 0.5 g, children – 0.25 g 3 times a day for 3 to 4 days.

Interaction

Enhances the effects of benzodiazepines, many hypnotics and antiepileptic drugs.

Special Instructions

In the first days of treatment, there may be fluctuations in blood pressure.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity.
