Mexidol-Vet tablets have pronounced antioxidant, antihypoxic and membrane-protective properties, increase the body’s resistance to various damaging factors to oxygen-dependent pathological conditions (shock, hypoxia and ischemia, disorders of cerebral circulation). The drug improves the metabolism of brain tissues and their blood supply, stabilizes the membrane structures of blood cells (red blood cells and platelets), improves microcirculation and blood rheological properties, reduces platelet aggregation. With a hypolipidemic effect, it reduces the content of total cholesterol and low-density lipoproteins.  The mechanism of action of Mexidol-Vet consists in the ability to cause enhanced compensatory activation of aerobic glycolysis and reduce the degree of inhibition of oxidative processes in the Krebs cycle in hypoxia with an increase in ATP and creatine phosphate; activate the energy-synthesizing function of mitochondria.  Mexidol-Vet inhibits lipid peroxidation, increases superoxide dismutase activity, modulates the activity of membrane enzymes and receptor complexes, improving synaptic transmission and mediator transport.  When administered orally, Mexidol-Vet is quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and enters the blood, organs and tissues of the animal. It is excreted with urine, mainly in glucuron-conjugated form.

Special instructions

The use of the drug in pregnant and lactating animals, puppies and kittens under 2 months of age, if necessary, is carried out under the supervision of a veterinarian. The use of the drug Mexidol-Vet® does not exclude the use of other means of pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy. The medicinal product is not intended for use in productive animals. Personal preventive measures When working with the drug Mexidol-Vet®, you should follow the general safety rules provided for when working with medications. Drinking, smoking and eating are prohibited during work. After finishing work, wash your hands with warm water and soap. People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with Mexidol-Vet®. If allergic reactions occur or if the drug accidentally enters the human body, you should immediately contact a medical facility (have instructions for use of the drug or label with you).

Contraindications for use: acute dysfunction of the liver and kidneys, increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side Effects

Side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with the instructions, as a rule, are not observed. In case of overdose, drowsiness may develop. If symptoms of overdose appear, the drug is temporarily discontinued and, if necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out.
