Fortecor™ is an ACE inhibitor. Benazepril hydrochloride, which is part of the drug, hydrolyzes to form the active metabolite benazeprilate, which inhibits the angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). This enzyme is part of the renin-angiotensin cascade system and converts inactive angiotensin 1 into biologically active angiotensin 2, the hormone that controls vasoconstriction and aldosterone release. Thus, the drug prevents the constriction of blood vessels, reducing blood pressure and facilitating blood flow. After oral administration, benazepril hydrochloride is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and metabolized in the liver to the active metabolite benazeprilate. Maximum concentration in blood plasma is observed after 1 hour. Benazeprilat is excreted with bile and urine. Fortecor™ tablets are moderately hazardous substances according to their effect on the body (Hazard Class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

Special instructions

If necessary, the use of the drug in pregnant and lactating animals should be carried out under the supervision of the attending veterinarian. Should not be used simultaneously with potassium-sparing diuretics, calcium channel blockers, drugs containing potassium, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, sedatives and other drugs with hypotensive effects. Use simultaneously with pimobendan is allowed.

Side Effects

As a rule, no side effects or complications are observed when using the drug. In case of increased individual sensitivity and the development of allergic reactions, stop using the drug and carry out the necessary therapy.

Contraindications
