Pharmacological properties
Csimelin refers to a group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic action, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa, thus eliminating edema and hyperemia of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. It facilitates nasal breathing and patency in rhinitis.
Csimelin Eco contains no preservatives. In therapeutic concentrations it does not irritate the mucosa and does not cause hyperemia. The action occurs within two minutes and lasts for 12 hours.
In vitro studies have shown that xylometazoline suppresses the infectious activity of the human rhinovirus that causes the “common cold.”
Pharmacokinetics. When applied topically, it is practically not absorbed and plasma concentrations are so low that they cannot be determined by modern analytical methods.
