Interferon alpha-2b human recombinant has immunomodulatory, antiviral and antiproliferative properties. It suppresses replication of RNA- and DNA-containing viruses. Immunomodulatory properties of interferon such as increased phagocytic activity of macrophages, increased specific cytotoxicity of lymphocytes to target cells determine its mediated antibacterial activity.
In the presence of antioxidants alpha-tocopherol acetate, citric and benzoic acids increases specific antiviral activity of interferon and its immunomodulatory effect, which increases the effectiveness of the body’s own immune response to infectious agents.
The preparation has a pronounced local immunomodulatory effect and promotes increase of locally produced antibodies of class secretory IgA which prevent fixation and reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms on mucous membranes and this provides prophylactic effect of the preparation for prevention of viral and other diseases.
The gel base provides prolonged action of the drug. The antioxidants contained in the dosage form – alpha-tocopherol acetate, citric and benzoic acids possess anti-inflammatory, membranostabilizing and regenerating properties, and also help to save the biological activity of human recombinant interferon alpha-2b.
