Viferon, 40000 me/g ointment 12 g

Immunomodulatory and antiviral drug. Interferon human recombinant alpha-2 has pronounced antiviral, antiproliferative and immunomodulatory properties.

In the presence of additives of the preparation (antioxidant tocopherol acetate) the specific antiviral activity of human recombinant interferon alpha-2 increases and its immunomodulatory activity increases (stimulation of phagocytic function of neutrophils in lesions).

In external and local administration the systemic absorption of interferon is low.

Indications

For the treatment of herpetic infections (Herpes simplex 1 and 2 types) of skin and mucous membranes of different localization.

In the complex therapy of influenza and other acute respiratory infections in children aged from 1 year.

Active ingredient

Composition

1 g of ointment for topical and external use contains the active ingredient:

interferon alpha – 2 human recombinant 40000 IU;

complementary substances:

Tocopherol acetate 0.02 g,

Lanolin anhydrous 0.34 g,

Vaseline medical 0.45 g,

Peach oil 0.12 g,

Purified water up to 1.0 g.

How to take, the dosage

Viferon ointment is applied in a thin layer on the lesions 3-4 times a day, the treatment duration is 5-7 days.

It is recommended to start treatment as soon as the first signs of lesions of the skin and mucous membranes (itching, burning, redness) appear.

In the treatment of recurrent herpes it is advisable to start treatment in the prodromal period or in the very beginning of the appearance of signs of recurrence.

For the treatment of flu and other acute respiratory infections, the ointment is applied in a thin layer to the mucous membrane of the nasal passages 3-4 times a day:

Interaction

VIFERON, ointment for topical and external use, is compatible and well combined with all medicines used in the treatment of acute respiratory infections, including influenza, viral (herpetic) lesions of the skin and mucous membranes.

Contraindications

Individual intolerance to the components of the drug.

Children under 1 year of age.

Side effects

In most cases VIFERON ointment for external and local use is well tolerated.

When applied to the nasal mucosa side effects (rhinorrhea, sneezing, burning of nasal mucosa) are mild and transient and disappear independently after discontinuation of the drug.

Pregnancy use

Because interferon systemic absorption is low when used topically and topically, the drug has an effect only in the lesion site, it is possible to use VIFERON ointment during pregnancy and lactation.
