The VID-COMOD® Ophthalmic Moisturizing Solution medical product is a sterile 2% preservative-free aqueous povidone solution in its original container (the COMOD® System).
The aqueous solution of povidone has the necessary viscosity and good adhesive properties to the anterior surface of the eye, due to which the VID-KOMOD® solution forms a uniform, long-lasting pre-threshold tear film which is not washed off with blinking and does not cause visual acuity loss. This protects the eye from feelings of dryness and irritation that often occur with environmental contact, as well as when wearing contact lenses.
The use of VID-COMOD® solution makes wearing rigid or soft contact lenses more comfortable, and the VID-COMOD® solution does not deposit on the surface of the lenses.
The VID-COMOD® solution is housed in the original COMOD® container, which is an ingenious system of reservoirs and valves, ensuring that no outside air enters and that the droplets are removed uniform in size regardless of the amount of force applied.
The metal parts and valves of the container which are in contact with the VID-COMOD® solution are partially coated with a thin layer of silver, which together with the absolute tightness of the system ensures that the VID-COMOD® solution is sterile in the absence of preservatives.
This prevents any possible undesired effects of the preservatives on the ocular tissue and ensures good tolerability of the VID-COOMOD® solution even with prolonged use.
Indications
For additional moisturizing of the anterior surface of the eye (cornea and conjunctiva), for relief of discomfort with a feeling of “dryness”, foreign body sensation, burning in the eye, including those arising from exposure:
Active ingredient
Composition
1 ml of VID-COMOD® solution contains:
Povidone – 20.0 mg
Sorbitol, sodium hydroxide, citric acid anhydrous, sodium citrate dihydrate, water.
How to take, the dosage
It is recommended that VID-COMOD® solution be injected 4-5 times daily into the conjunctival sac of each eye at a rate of 1 drop. VID-COMOD® solution may be injected more frequently if needed. Frequency of addition of VID-COMMOD® Solution is established individually depending on your sensations and according to the recommendations of your ophthalmologist or contact lens specialist. If you inject VID-COMOD® solution very frequently (e.g. more than 10 times a day), please consult your ophthalmologist.
There are no restrictions on how long you can use VID-COMOD® solution. If you continue to have complaints or discomfort for several days after using VID-COMOD® Solution please also consult your doctor.
The COMOD® System contains and allows 10 ml of VID-COMOD® Solution which corresponds to about 300 drops of solution.
A new container filled with VID-COMOD® Solution should be purchased after the entire contents have been used as the system is not meant for reuse.
How to use and recommendations when wearing contact lenses
The cap must be removed before each application.
Please turn the VID-COMOD® solution container upside down and press the base of the container repeatedly until the first drop appears at the tip of the dropper. The system is then ready to use.
When applying VID-COMOD® solution, hold the drip cup face down while quickly and firmly pressing on the base of the drip cup. This activates the drip mechanism and only one drop of solution is removed. Due to the special design of the valves in the KOMOD® system the droplet size and extraction rate remain the same even when applying very high pressure to the base of the container.
Tilt your head back slightly, slightly move the lower eyelid with your finger and drop one drop into the conjunctival sac as described above. Slowly close your eyes, allowing the fluid to spread evenly over the surface of the eye.
Once finished, place the cap tightly over the dropper.
Avoid contact of the drip tip with the surface of the eye and skin when injecting.
When wearing soft or rigid contact lenses, VID-COMOD® solution can be injected into the conjunctival sac without removing the lenses.
The VID-COMOD® System is for personal use only.
