Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics

It has sedative effect, with moderate reflex vasodilator effect caused by irritation of the sensitive nerve endings.

Stimulates the production and release of enkephalins, endorphins and other peptides, kinins (by irritating the mucosa receptors), which actively participate in the regulation of vascular permeability, the formation of pain sensations.

Pharmacokinetics

When administered under the tongue therapeutic effect occurs on average in 5 minutes, while up to 70% of the drug is released within 3 minutes.

Indications

Nausea, Vomiting, Cardialgia (heart pain), motion sickness (seasickness), Neurosis, Heart pain, NauseaFunctional cardialgia, motion sickness syndrome (nausea, vomiting in seasickness and air sickness).

Active ingredient

Levomenthol solution in mentyl isovalerate, (Dextrose)

Composition

1 capsule contains validol (menthol solution in mentyl ester of isovaleric acid) 100 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Tablets – sublingually, 1 tablet. 2-3 times a day.

The frequency and duration of administration is determined depending on the effectiveness of treatment.

If the therapeutic effect is absent or insufficient within 5-10 minutes after administration, other therapy should be prescribed.

Interaction

When used in conjunction with other drugs that depress the central nervous system, increases the effect of the latter.

Simultaneous use of the drug with nitrates reduces headache that occurs with their use.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.

Sugarose/isomaltose deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption (because the drug contains sucrose).

Cautions

Persons with diabetes mellitus should be prescribed with caution (because the drug contains sucrose). 1 tablet contains 0.096 to 0.116 BE (0.106 BE).

Side effects

Mild nausea, lacrimation, and dizziness may occur if Validol is taken for a long time. These phenomena usually go away on their own.

Overdose

Headache, nausea, agitation, decreased blood pressure, central nervous system depression.

In case of overdose the drug should be discontinued and symptomatic therapy should be prescribed.

Pregnancy use

During pregnancy and lactation Validol is prescribed only if the expected therapeutic effect for the mother exceeds the possible negative effect of the drug on the fetus and the infant.
