Pharmacodynamics:

Valerian tincture exhibits a moderately pronounced sedative effect. The active principles of the drug are the ester of borneol and isovaleric acid, free valerian acid. The sedative effect is slow onset, but quite stable. It facilitates the onset of sleep. In addition, the drug has antispasmodic effect on smooth muscles of gastrointestinal tract, has choleretic properties, increases secretion of gastrointestinal glands.

Indications

Elevated nervous irritability, insomnia, in the treatment – functional disorders of the cardiovascular system, spasms of the gastrointestinal tract.

How to take, the dosage

It is taken orally, before meals, diluted in a small amount of water. Adults take 20-30 drops per reception 3-4 times a day, children – 1 drop for each year of life. The course of treatment – up to 4 weeks. Repeated courses are possible after agreement with the doctor.

Interaction

Enhances the effects of sleeping pills and other drugs that depress the central nervous system, as well as antispasmodics.

Special Instructions

In long-term use in high doses may decrease psychomotor reactions, which should be taken into account when driving a car, working with mechanisms, etc. The maximum single dose of the drug contains 0.32 g of absolute alcohol, the maximum daily dose of the drug contains 1.3 g of absolute alcohol. One drop of the drug contains 0.01 g of absolute alcohol.

Contraindications

High sensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, pregnancy, lactation, children under 1 year.

With caution:

Chronic enterocolitis, liver disease, alcoholism, craniocerebral trauma, brain disease.

Side effects

Sometimes drowsiness, weakness, reduced performance (especially when used in high doses), with prolonged use – constipation, in some cases, allergic reactions are possible.
