Troxymetacin, gel 40 g

The gel Troksimetacin is a combined drug for local use, which includes indomethacin and troxerutin.

Indomethacin has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anti-edema effect, leading to pain relief, reduction of edema and reducing the recovery time of the affected tissue.

The main mechanism of action is related to inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis by reversible blockade of cyclooxygenase 1 and 2. Troxerutin (trihydroxyethylrutinoside) is a bioflavonoid.

It has an angioprotective effect. Reduces capillary permeability and venotonic effect. It blocks the venodilator effect of histamine, bradykinin and acetylcholine. It has anti-inflammatory effect on the periovenous tissue, reduces capillary fragility and has some anti-aggregant effect.

Reduces swelling, improves trophism in various pathological changes associated with venous insufficiency. Troksimetatsin gel when applied to the skin suppresses the inflammatory edematous reaction, reduces pain and temperature in the inflammation on the surface and in the depths, reaching the blood vessels located there.

It has a pronounced venotonic, capillary-protective effect.

Indications

For symptomatic treatment:

– in the complex therapy of chronic venous insufficiency of the lower extremities (varicose veins);

– To relieve swelling, heaviness and pain in the legs;

– superficial thrombophlebitis, phlebitis; post-phlebitis;

– rheumatic soft tissue injuries: tendovaginitis, bursitis, fibrositis, periarthritis;

– postoperative edema, contusions, dislocations, sprains.

Composition

1 g of the drug contains:

active ingredients:

indomethacin 30 mg,

troxerutin 20 mg;

auxiliary substances:

carbomer 15 mg,

dinat edetate 0.5 mg,

sodium benzoate 2.5 mg,

macrogol-400 522 mg,

isopropanol 150 mg,

dimethyl sulfoxide 150 mg,

purified water 110 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Troxymetacin gel is used externally. 3-4 times a day by rubbing the gel thinly into the skin of painful areas of the body.

The amount required for one rubbing is about 4-5 cm squeezed from the tube.

Total daily amount should not exceed 20 cm of gel.

Treatment duration should not exceed 10 days.

Interaction

Troksimetacin gel may increase the effect of drugs that cause photosensitization.

Clinically significant interaction with other drugs is not described.

Special Instructions

The drug should be applied only to intact skin areas, avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.

In case of contact with eyes, mucous membranes or open wound surfaces there is local irritation – lacrimation, redness, burning, pain. The necessary measures in this case – flushing the affected area with copious amounts of distilled water or saline until the disappearance or reduction of complaints.

Sodium benzoate and dimethyl sulfoxide contained in the preparation Troxymethacin gel as excipients may have irritating effect on the skin.

Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms:

The drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially dangerous activities requiring high concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, operating moving mechanisms).

Contraindications

– Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Troximetacin;

– hypersensitivity to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs);

– III trimester of pregnancy and breastfeeding period;

– children under 14 years of age (due to the lack of clinical experience of use);

– violation of the integrity of the skin.

With caution:

Simultaneous use of the drug with other NSAIDs, bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, nasal polyps.

Side effects

Tolerability of the drug is usually very good.

Local reactions:

There may be symptoms of hypersensitivity on the skin – contact dermatitis, itching, redness, rash, heat and burning sensation in the area of application.

Overdose

If accidentally swallowed large amounts of the drug a burning sensation in the mouth, salivation, nausea, vomiting are possible.

Treatment: flushing of the mouth and stomach, if necessary – symptomatic treatment.
