Troxerutin – venotonizing, angioprotective agent, bioflavonoid. It reduces capillary permeability and fragility, strengthens the vascular wall, improves microcirculation, has an anti-edema effect. Participates in oxidation-reduction processes, blocks hyaluronic acid of cell membranes. Increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of plasma and diapedesis of blood cells. Reduces inflammation in the vascular wall by limiting platelet adhesion to its surface.

The use of Troxerutin is possible both in the initial and in the later stages of the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, it is possible to use as one of the components of complex treatment.

Pharmacokinetics

After oral administration the drug is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, Cmax in plasma is noted on average 2 h after administration, therapeutic plasma levels are maintained for 8 h.

Metabolized in the liver, partially excreted unchanged in the urine and bile.

How to take, the dosage

Troxerutin capsules should be swallowed whole with meals.

Usually 1 capsule 3 times a day is prescribed orally, as a maintenance therapy – 1 capsule 2 times a day.

The course of treatment lasts on the average 3-4 weeks; the necessity of longer treatment is determined individually.

Interaction

When used simultaneously, it increases the effect of ascorbic acid on the structure and permeability of the vascular wall.

Special Instructions

There is no experience of using the drug in children under 15 years of age.

In the treatment of superficial thrombophlebitis or deep vein thrombosis, the use of Troxerutin Zentiva does not exclude the need for anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic therapy.

Influence on driving and operating machinery

The administration of Troxerutin has no effect on motor and mental reactions and does not hinder driving and operating machinery.

Contraindications

With caution: the drug should be used (prolonged use) in renal failure.

Side effects

Headache, irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa, allergic reactions in the form of skin rashes and itching.

Overdose

In case of overdose, the following symptoms may occur: agitation, nausea, headache and hot flashes.

In case of overdose, patients should flush the stomach, take activated charcoal, consult a doctor. If necessary, symptomatic treatment is carried out.

Pregnancy use

Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy and lactation, in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy can be used only with a doctor’s prescription.
