Pharmacodynamics

Triovit contains antioxidant vitamins C and E and β-carotene (provitamin A), oligoelement selenium.

The fat-soluble antioxidants, vitamin E (α-tocopherol) and provitamin A (β-carotene) protect membrane lipids from oxidation by free radicals formed in the cell and neutralize free radicals by blocking their unpaired electron.

Vitamin E acts as an anti-atherogenic agent, prevents oxidation of low density lipoproteins and reduces the risk of the formation of cholesterol plaques in the blood vessels.

The water-soluble ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is involved in the bioregeneration of α-tocopherol, protecting it from degradation.

The antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which includes selenium neutralizes the most toxic products of free-radical oxidation – lipoperoxides, which prevents the formation of toxic aldehydes and new free radicals.

Free radicals have a negative effect on health when excessive amounts are produced in the body.

The body’s own defense systems can no longer maintain a balance of free radicals, resulting in cell damage.

Antioxidant vitamins are active at the cellular level, they complement each other’s activity, so the combination of vitamins (vit. A, E, C) and selenium is rational.

The protective properties of the vitamins – antioxidants are manifested in increasing the body’s resistance to adverse environmental factors, increasing the protective properties of the body, anti-inflammatory action, and contribute to slowing the aging process.

Triovit capsules are recommended for use in adults and children from 15 years (by doctor’s recommendation for children from 10 years) in:

Active ingredients:

Betatab 20% – 50 mg *; Yeast complex with selenium 2000 – 25 mg **; Ascorbic acid, coated, EC type – 100 mg ***; α-tocopheryl acetate 50% – 80 mg ****.

* – 50 mg betatab 20% corresponds to 10 mg beta-carotene (composition: beta-carotene dl-alpha-tocopherol, ascorbyl palmitate, sodium ascorbate, sucrose, gelatin, corn starch).

** – 25 mg of yeast complex with selenium 2000 corresponds to 50 micrograms of selenium in combination with yeast.

*** – Ascorbic acid, coated shell type EU (composition: ascorbic acid, ethyl cellulose).

**** – 80 mg of alpha-tocopheryl acetate 50% corresponds to 40 mg of alpha-tocopheryl acetate (composition: alpha-tocopheryl acetate, gelatin carbohydrate).

How to take, the dosage

Triovit capsules are not recommended for children under 15 years of age.

Children from 10 years of age may take one capsule a day under medical supervision.

It is recommended to take 1 to 2 capsules of Triovit per day.

The capsules should be taken orally, after meals, with a small amount of water. The course of treatment is 2 months, repeated courses are recommended by the doctor.

Interaction

When taking other vitamin, vitamin-mineral preparations at the same time, it is necessary to consult a doctor – the risk of hypervitaminosis.

Special Instructions

The drug does not contain sugar, patients with diabetes may take Triovit.

Yellow staining of the skin may occur after prolonged use of β-carotene, which is not harmful and disappears after discontinuation.

Contraindications

Overdose

Symptoms: taking high doses (more than 15 capsules a day) may cause nausea, vomiting, yellow coloring of skin and nails. In these cases, it is recommended to stop taking the drug and consult a doctor.

Treatment: symptomatic.
