Pharmacological properties

The herb thermopsis has expectorant action, having a moderate irritant effect on the mucous membrane receptors of the stomach, reflexively increases the secretion of bronchial glands. Alkaloids contained in thermopsis herb (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycardine, anagyrine, thermopsidine) have an excitatory effect on respiratory and, in high doses, on vomiting centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates bronchial gland secretion and helps reduce sputum viscosity.

Indications

Cough with difficult to separate sputum (bronchitis, tracheitis) – as part of complex therapy.

Pharmacological properties

Thermopsis herb has an expectorant effect, having a moderate irritating effect on the receptors of the gastric mucosa, and reflexively increases the secretion of the bronchial glands. The alkaloids contained in thermopsis grass (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpine, anagyrine, thermopsin, thermopsidine) have a stimulating effect on the respiratory and, in high doses, on the vomiting centers.

Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands and helps reduce the viscosity of sputum.

Special instructions

To improve the liquefaction and separation of sputum, it is recommended to prescribe plenty of warm drinks.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery

There are no data on the effect of the drug on the ability to drive a vehicle and perform potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Sodium bicarbonate – 0.25 g

Excipients: potato starch – 0.0279 g, talc – 0.0054 g.

Pregnancy

There have been no controlled studies in pregnant women. There is no data on the penetration of alkaloids contained in thermopsis grass through the placental barrier and into breast milk. Do not use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (in the acute phase), children under 12 years of age.

Nausea.

Interaction

Adsorbents, astringents and coating agents can reduce the absorption of alkaloids that make up the thermopsis herb.

Thermopsol® cough tablets should not be used simultaneously with preparations containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to separate sputum.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting.
Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic treatment.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not higher than 25 oC.
Keep out of the reach of children.

Shelf life

4 years.
Do not use after the expiration date stated on the package.
