Terbinafin-MFF, tablets 250 mg 10 pcs

Antifungal agent of allilamines group. It acts by inhibiting squalene epoxidase in the cell membrane of the fungus. This leads to ergosterol deficiency and to intracellular accumulation of squalene, which causes cell death of the pathogen.

It has a fungicidal effect on dermatophytes, mold and some dimorphic fungi, yeast and yeast-like fungi. It may act fungistatically on some yeast fungi.

It is active against the causative agents of dermatomycosis (Trichophyton /including. Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton tonsurans, Trichophyton verrucosum, Trichophyton violaceum/, also Microsporum canis and Epidermophyton floccosum); yeast-like fungi of the Candida family (mainly Candida albicans); causative agent of lichen (Malassezia furfur).

Indications

Nail fungus, Fungus, scalp fungus, thrush (candidiasis)

For oral use: fungal skin lesions caused by dermatophytes – trichophytosis, epidermophytosis, microsporia, fungal nail lesions (onychomycosis), candidiasis.

For external use: fungal skin lesions caused by dermatophytes, candidiasis; herpes zoster.

How to take, the dosage

Orally in adults – 250 mg/day in 1 or 2 doses.

The duration of treatment depends on indications and severity of infection: with skin lesions – 2-4 weeks, with nail lesions – from 6 weeks to 4 months or more. For children with body weight over 40 kg – 250 mg/day, 20-40 kg – 125 mg/day, up to 20 kg – 62.5 mg/day.

Applied externally 1-2 times a day for 1-2 weeks.

Interaction

Drugs that cause induction of microsomal liver enzymes increase clearance terbinafine; drugs that inhibit microsomal liver enzymes decrease clearance terbinafine.

Special Instructions

Caution should be exercised when using terbinafine for oral administration in patients with hepatic and/or renal dysfunction, as well as in the elderly.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to terbinafine.

Side effects

Digestive system disorders: nausea, anorexia, moderate abdominal pain, diarrhea, disorders or loss of taste, cholestasis, jaundice, hepatitis.

Allergic reactions: skin rash; rarely – arthralgia, myalgia, erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

CNS disorders: headache.

Hematopoietic system disorders: neutropenia, thrombocytopenia.

Local reactions: hyperemia, itching, burning sensation.
