The drug Simpatil has a sedative effect, eliminates anxiety and associated vegetative disorders, tachycardia and sleep disorders. Biologically active substances of hawthorn extract – triterpene compounds and flavonoids have antispasmodic effect, selectively expanding heart and brain vessels, reduce excitability of the central nervous system and myocardium.

Esholtia extract has an anxiolytic and sedative effect, shortens the period of falling asleep and improves the quality of sleep in mild forms of dyssomnia. Esholtia alkaloids of the protopine group increase in vitro binding of gamma-aminobutyric acid to the brain receptors sensitive to it.

Magnesium improves regulation of transmembrane metabolism of sodium and potassium ions, is an antagonist of calcium ions, reduces the ability to conduct excitation along neuromuscular synapses, to the contraction of smooth and transverse striated muscles; it also has neurosedative, antispasmodic and anxiolytic effects.

Pharmacokinetics

. Magnesium oxide in the stomach is converted to magnesium chloride, which is absorbed in the small intestine by a passive absorption mechanism, the absorption rate does not exceed 50%. Excretion of magnesium is mainly with urine. The action of the components is difficult for kinetic observations.

How to take, the dosage

For oral administration.

Two tablets 2 times a day (morning and evening) before a meal with water.

The duration of treatment is 3-4 weeks.

The interval between courses of treatment is 3 weeks.

Interaction

It is not recommended to combine Simpatil with drugs containing quinidine because renal excretion of quinidine is decreased due to alkalinization of urine and overdose may occur (due to increased plasma concentration of quinidine).

Special Instructions

The patient must be warned to inform the attending physician if any of the side effects listed in the instructions worsens or if any other side effects occur that are not listed in the instructions.

Influence on driving and operating machinery

At the time of treatment, caution should be exercised when engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles and operating moving machinery).

Contraindications

Side effects

Gastrointestinal tract: diarrhea, epigastric pain.

Overdose

The administration of large doses of the drug may lead to urinary retention.

Treatment: rehydration, forced diuresis.

In case of renal failure hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis is necessary.
