Supirocin-B, ointment 15 g

A combination drug for external use, the effect of which is due to its constituent components.

Mupirocin is an antibiotic produced by the microorganism Pseudomonas fluorescens. Mupirocin inhibits bacterial cell protein synthesis through reversible binding to isoleucyl-transport RNA synthetase, which prevents isoleucine incorporation into the building protein chains.

When used in minimal inhibitory concentrations, mupirocin has bacteriostatic and in higher concentrations it has bactericidal action.Due to its specific mechanism of action and unique chemical structure, there is no cross-resistance with other antibiotics. With proper use of mupirocin, the risk of resistant strains of microorganisms is low.

Betamethasone is a glucocorticosteroid for external use. It has a local anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-edema and anti-proliferative effect. It has stronger vasoconstrictor action than other fluorine derivatives of glucocorticosteroids; systemic effects are expressed insignificantly due to limited absorption through the skin.

In skin exposure there is prevention of marginal accumulation of neutrophils, which leads to reduction of exudation, cytokine production, inhibition of macrophage migration, leading ultimately to reduction of infiltration and granulation processes.

Indications

Treatment of atopic dermatitis, diffuse neurodermatitis, contact dermatitis (simple and allergic), exfoliative dermatitis, urticaria, dermatitis herpetiformis, seborrheic dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, complicated by secondary bacterial infections.

Due to the specific mechanism of action and unique chemical structure, there is no cross-resistance with other antibiotics. When mupirocin is used correctly, the risk of the emergence of resistant strains of microorganisms is small.

Betamethasone is a glucocorticosteroid for external use. It has local anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-edematous and anti-proliferative effects. Has a stronger vasoconstrictor effect than other fluorinated glucocorticosteroids; systemic effects are insignificant due to limited absorption through the skin.

Special instructions

Avoid contact of the ointment with the eyes, mucous membranes, as well as open wounds and burns.

As with other antibacterial substances, long-term use of the ointment can lead to excessive growth of organisms that are immune to its action, incl. mushrooms

Considering the presence of a potent glucocorticosteroid in the drug, the drug must be used in the acute period of the disease, for a short time, on a small surface of the skin.

Supirocin B should not be used on the skin of the face due to the possibility of telangiectasia and perioral dermatitis.

On the skin in the axillary and groin area, the drug should be used only in cases of extreme necessity.

The drug should not be used under an occlusive dressing, because this can lead to atrophy of the epidermis, the appearance of stretch marks, and the development of superinfection.

Macrogol-based ointments should not be used on large surfaces in conditions accompanied by increased absorption of polyethylene glycol, and especially in moderate and severe renal failure.

Composition

1 g of ointment for external use contains:

Active ingredients:

mupirocin 20 mg,

betamethasone (in the form of dipropionate) 500 mcg.

Pregnancy

The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation.

Contraindications

skin manifestations of syphilis;
lupus;
bacterial, viral, fungal skin diseases;
trophic ulcers of the leg associated with varicose veins;
skin cancer, nevus, atheroma, melanoma, hemangioma, xanthoma, sarcoma;
rosacea;
acne vulgaris;
post-vaccination skin reactions;
period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;
children under 12 years of age;
hypersensitivity.

With caution:

Macrogol (polyethylene glycol) can be absorbed through the wound surface or through other damage to the skin and excreted by the kidneys. Macrogol-based ointments should not be used on large surfaces in conditions accompanied by increased absorption of polyethylene glycol, and especially in moderate and severe renal failure.

For patients with diabetes, glaucoma, tuberculosis, and cataracts, long-term use of the ointment on large areas of the skin is not recommended. It should be used with caution in cases of subcutaneous tissue atrophy, especially in the elderly.

Overdose

Symptoms: reversible inhibition of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system, manifestations of Cushing’s syndrome, hyperglycemia, glycosuria.

Treatment: symptomatic.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not higher than 25°C. Do not freeze.
