Streptocid ointment 10% 25 g

Streptocid is a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent. Sulfonamide (streptocid) is one of the first representatives of the chemotherapeutic agents of the sulfonamide group.

It has bacteriostatic action. The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with PABA and competitive inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase enzyme. This leads to disruption of dihydrofolic acid and then tetrahydrofolic acid synthesis and as a result to disruption of nucleic acid synthesis.

Sulfanilamide is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp, Vibrio cholerae, Haemophilus influenzae, Clostridium spp., Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Yersinia pestis, and against Chlamydia spp.

Indications

Infected wounds of various etiologies,
burns of the 1st and 2nd degree,
superficial pyoderma,
boils,
carbuncles,
acne vulgaris,
impetigo and other purulent-inflammatory skin diseases.

Special instructions

During the treatment period, it is necessary to increase the volume of fluid consumed.

If hypersensitivity reactions occur, treatment should be discontinued.

During long-term treatment, systematic monitoring of blood counts, kidney and liver function is recommended.

The drug does not affect driving or engaging in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions. If dizziness occurs, you should refrain from driving vehicles or operating machinery.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity,
anemia,
renal/liver failure,
congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase,

lactation period.

Side Effects

Skin allergic reactions;
nephrotoxic reactions (most likely in patients with impaired renal function);
in isolated cases – hypothyroidism.

Interaction

Myelotoxic drugs increase the manifestations of hematotoxicity of the drug.
