Myotropic antispasmodic, has a direct effect on the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract (mainly on the large intestine).

It relieves spasm without affecting normal intestinal peristalsis. It has no anticholinergic effect.

Pharmacokinetics

It undergoes presystemic hydrolysis when taken orally and is not detected in plasma. It is metabolized in the liver to veratric acid and mebeverine alcohol.

Extracted mainly by the kidneys as metabolites, in small amounts in the bile. Mebeverine capsules have the property of prolonged release.

There is no significant cumulation even after multiple doses.

Indications

Gastrointestinal spasms caused by organic diseases.

The symptomatic treatment of pain, spastic conditions, discomfort with irritable bowel syndrome.

How to take, the dosage

In adults and children over 12 years old take 1 capsule (200 mg) 2 times a day 20 minutes before meals (morning and evening).

I swallow it whole with water.
