Sodium sulfacyl is an antibacterial agent for topical use in ophthalmology, a sulfonamide derivative. It has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial action and also has a bacteriostatic effect. Its mechanism of action is associated with competitive antagonism with PABA and competitive inhibition of dihydropteroatsynthetase, which leads to disruption of tetrahydrofolic acid synthesis, essential for purine and pyrimidine synthesis.
Sulfacetamide is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including pathogenic cocci, Escherichia coli), Chlamydia spp.
Pharmacokinetics
In local administration penetrates into the tissues and fluids of the eye. It is absorbed into the systemic bloodstream through the inflamed conjunctiva.

Composition
1 ml of the drug contains:
Active ingredient sulfacetamide 200 mg.
How to take, the dosage
Topically.
To prevent blennorrhea in newborns 2 drops of the solution are put into the eye immediately after birth and 2 drops after 2 hours.
Interaction
Sulfacetamide is incompatible with silver salts when used topically.
Special Instructions
Patients with hypersensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonylurea, or carboanhydrase inhibitors may have hypersensitivity to sulfacetamide.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active substance and other sulfonamides.
