Sodium chloride – detoxifying.
Pharmacodynamics
It has a detoxifying and rehydrating effect. Replenishes sodium deficiency in various pathological conditions. Sodium chloride 0.9% solution isotonic to human plasma and therefore is quickly eliminated from the vascular bed, only temporarily increasing the BOD (effectiveness in case of blood loss and shock is insufficient).
Pharmacokinetics
The sodium concentration is 142 mmol/L (plasma) and 145 mmol/L (interstitial fluid), the chloride concentration is 101 mmol/L (interstitial fluid). It is excreted by the kidneys.
Indications
- large losses of extracellular fluid or insufficient fluid intake (toxic dyspepsia, cholera, diarrhea, “indomitable” vomiting, extensive burns with severe exudation, etc.).
- hypochloremia and hyponatremia with dehydration;
- intestinal obstruction;
- intoxication;
- wounds, eyes, nasal mucosa washing, dissolution and dilution of drugs and moistening of dressings.
.
Active ingredient
Sodium chloride
Composition
Active substances:
Sodium chloride 9 g;
Ancillary substances:
Water for injection – up to 1 liter
How to take, the dosage
Intravenous drip, externally.
The solution is heated to 36-38 °C before administration. The dose is determined depending on the loss of body fluid, Na+ and Cl-, and on average is 1000 ml per day. With high fluid loss and severe intoxication, administration of up to 3000 ml per day is possible. The infusion rate is 540 ml per hour; if necessary the infusion rate is increased.
In children with dehydration manifested by decreased blood pressure (without determining laboratory parameters) the dose is 20-30 ml/kg. Later the dosing regimen is adjusted depending on the laboratory parameters. When large doses of isotonic sodium chloride solution are administered over a long period of time, the electrolyte content in the plasma and urine must be monitored.
Sodium chloride isotonic solution is used for washing wounds, eyes, nasal mucous membranes, moistening dressings.
