Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics:

Simeotic^® is a drug that reduces gas in the intestine. The active substance, simethicone, has surface activity and the ability to reduce the surface tension at the liquid/gas interface. This causes merging of gas bubbles and destruction of foam, so that the released gas can be absorbed or excreted naturally under the influence of intestinal peristalsis. The use of Simeotic^® in preparation for diagnostic examinations prevents image defects caused by gas bubbles.

Pharmacokinetics:
Simethicone is chemically inert and is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) after oral administration and acts only in its lumen. It has no effect on enzymes and microorganisms present in the gastrointestinal tract. It is excreted unchanged.

Indications

Excessive formation and accumulation of gastric gas (flatulence, Remheld syndrome, aerophagia, increased gas formation in the postoperative period);

Preparing for diagnostic examinations of the abdominal cavity and pelvis (ultrasound, X-ray studies, etc.).

Symptoms of excessive gas caused by functional dyspepsia;

Acute poisoning with detergents containing foaming agents (as an antifoaming agent).

How to take, the dosage

In complaints related to excessive gas:

Adults and children over 6 years old take 2 capsules 40 mg or 1 capsule 80 mg 3-5 times a day, possibly with some liquid, after each meal and before bedtime.

The duration of treatment depends on the presence of symptoms of increased gas. If necessary, Simeotic ® may be used for a long period of time.

Preparing for diagnostic tests: 2 40 mg capsules or 1 80 mg capsule 3 times daily the day before the study, 2 40 mg capsules or 1 80 mg capsule on the morning of the study, without water.

As an antifoaming agent in poisoning with detergents containing foaming agents: single dose for adults is 10-20 capsules 40 mg or 5-10 capsules 80 mg, for children over 6 years old 3-10 capsules 40 mg or 2-5 capsules 80 mg at once; the dosage depends on the severity of intoxication.

If there is no improvement after treatment or if symptoms worsen or new symptoms develop, you should consult a physician. Use only with the directions, route of administration, and dosage listed.

Interaction

Special Instructions

People with hypersensitivity to the drug components may experience immediate hypersensitivity reactions, as well as delayed hypersensitivity reactions. In case of any allergic reactions the drug should be stopped immediately and a physician should be consulted.

If excessive gas persists for a long time, a physician should be consulted for medical examination.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles, machinery:

The drug has no effect on the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles, operating moving machinery).
