Pharmacotherapeutic group: antiseptic agent. < br> < br> ATX code: R01AX10 < br> < br> Pharmacological action < br> Silver drug (silver proteinate contains 7.5-8.5% silver). It has astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. It dissociates with the formation of silver ions that bind with the DNA of bacteria and prevent their reproduction on mucous membranes in conditions of local application. Mechanism of action of silver proteinate is based on the fact that silver ions precipitate proteins and form a protective film on the damaged mucous membrane, which helps to reduce the sensitivity of nerve endings and narrowing of blood vessels (which leads to reduction of edema), which in turn leads to inhibition of inflammatory reactions. Silver ions also inhibit the reproduction of various bacteria. It is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms: B. cereus, C. albicans, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, A. niger, S. abony and others.< br> Pharmacokinetics< br> < br> In local application it is practically not absorbed.< br>

Indications

Symptomatic therapy of acute nasopharyngitis, sinusitis; acute rhinitis (runny nose).

How to take, the dosage

Topically, as a 2% solution.

Prepare the solution immediately before use.

Store the prepared solution at room temperature. The solution can be used within 30 days after preparation.

To prepare 2% solution, 1 tablet of the drug (200 mg) is dissolved in 10 ml of the solvent (water for injection).

In children from 3 to 6 years of age – 1-2 drops in each nostril 3 times a day;

Adults and children over 6 years of age – 2-3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day.

The way of preparing the drug solution before use:

Before using the drug, it is recommended to rinse and clean the nasal passages. The duration of the course of treatment is 5-7 days.

If after 7 days of treatment there is no improvement or if symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, a doctor should be consulted.

To use the drug only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the instructions.

Interaction

Pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic interaction: not studied.

Pharmaceutical interaction: salts of zinc, copper, lead, silver, mercury, iron, aluminum form insoluble precipitates with the drug solution; the drug solution is inactivated by alkaloid salts and organic bases (epinephrine).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, lactation, atrophic rhinitis, children under 3 years.

Side effects

Mild mucosal irritation, burning, itching, allergic reactions (urticaria, atopic dermatitis, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock).

Overdose

An overdose is unlikely with the recommended route of administration.

Symptoms: There may be increased side effects. If accidentally swallowing large amounts of the drug may cause gastrointestinal irritation.

Treatment: in case of severe irritation, burning, itching mucous membranes should be rinsed with plenty of water for 15 minutes. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

The treatment is symptomatic.
