Senna contains the main active substances – anthraglycosides with a pronounced laxative effect. The mechanism of action is to irritate the mucous membrane receptors of the gastrointestinal tract, reducing secretion and increasing peristalsis in the large intestine.

In the drug “Senna-D” these properties are enhanced by the inclusion in the powder composition of the roots and rhizomes of elecampane and MCC.

The rhizomes and roots of elecampane help eliminate the cause of constipation – biliary dyskinesia. Contained in elecampane compounds inulin, inulenin and gelenin naturally normalize the balance of intestinal microflora, gastrointestinal tract, stimulate the immune system and improves the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

Microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) in the stomach creates a colloidal gel and dispersion; it absorbs moisture and swells, absorbs breakdown products and removes them from the body. MCC has no effect on the body’s beneficial proteins and nutrient molecules, does not affect the nutritional balance. It actively interacts with cholesterol, which prevents its absorption into the blood. Being in the gastrointestinal tract, microcrystalline cellulose irritates the receptors associated with motility and secretory activity of the intestine. The substance also affects the formation of fecal deposits, increasing their volume. Reduces intraintestinal pressure. Stabilizes intestinal microflora.
