A semi-synthetic bioflavonoid (rutin derivative) of benzopyran class. Venotoninizing, angioprotective agent. It reduces capillary permeability and fragility, strengthens the vascular wall, improves microcirculation and has anti-edema effect.
It participates in redox processes, has antioxidant activity. It increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of blood plasma and diapedesis of blood cells into the tissues, reduces inflammation in the vascular wall by limiting platelet adhesion to its surface.
The use of troxerutin is possible both in the initial and in the later stages of treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, it is possible to use as one of the components of complex treatment.
Troxerutin reduces swelling and heaviness in the legs, decreases the intensity of pain and cramps and improves tissue trophism.
Troxerutin relieves symptoms associated with hemorrhoids (pain, exudation, itching, bleeding).
Indications
– chronic venous insufficiency;
– trophic disorders in chronic venous insufficiency (dermatitis, trophic ulcers);
– varicose veins;
– superficial thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis;
– postthrombotic syndrome;
– Post-traumatic edema, bruises;
– hemorrhoids;
– diabetic angiopathy, retinopathy.

Composition
1 capsule contains:

Capsule shell:
Case – titanium dioxide 2%, gelatin to 100%; cap – quinoline yellow dye 0.713%, iron oxide red dye 0.005%, titanium dioxide 2.000%, gelatin to 100%.
How to take, the dosage
Ingestion. Capsules should be swallowed whole with meals, drinking plenty of fluids.
The drug Troxerutin is prescribed by a doctor.
Usually 1 capsule 3 times a day is taken orally; for maintenance treatment, 1 capsule 2 times a day.
The course of treatment is on average 3-4 weeks; the need for longer treatment is determined individually.
Interaction
Ascorbic acid
Concomitant use increases the effect of ascorbic acid on the resistance and permeability of the vascular wall.
Special Instructions
Troxerutin has insufficient experience in children under 18 years of age.
In the treatment of superficial thrombophlebitis or deep vein thrombosis, the use of Troxerutin does not exclude the need for anti-inflammatory and antithrombotic therapy.
The administration of troxerutin has no effect on motor and mental reactions and does not prevent driving vehicles and operating machinery.
Contraindications
– hypersensitivity to troxerutin and other components of the drug;
– gastric and duodenal ulcer;
– Chronic gastritis (acute phase);
– pregnancy (1st trimester);
– breastfeeding period;
– children under 18 years of age (experience of use is limited).
In patients with chronic renal failure (long-term use).
Side effects
Troxerutin is very well tolerated, in rare cases there are mild adverse reactions.
Immune system disorders: hypersensitivity reactions.
Nervous system disorders: headache.
Gastrointestinal disorders: irritation of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, nausea.
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: skin rash, itching.
Vascular disorders: “rushes” of blood to the face.
Overdose
Troxerutin has very low toxicity.
The symptoms of overdose: agitation, nausea, headache and “rushes” of blood to the face.
In case of overdose, patients should flush the stomach, take activated charcoal (within an hour after ingestion), consult a doctor, if necessary, symptomatic and supportive treatment is carried out.
