Composition

1 suppository contains:

Active substance:

mesalazine – 500 mg;

Excipients:

docusate sodium;

solid fat;

cetyl alcohol.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, blood diseases, liver failure, children’s age (up to 2 years).

Side Effects

Rarely – abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, headaches and dizziness, allergic reactions, in isolated cases – interstitial nephritis, systemic lupus erythematosus syndrome, methemoglobinemia, thrombocytopenia.

Interaction

With simultaneous administration, it is possible to enhance the effect of coumarin anticoagulants, increase the toxicity of methotrexate, reduce the diuretic effect of spironolactone and furosemide, reduce the effectiveness of probenecid and rifampicin..

Functional features

Depending on the dosage form and route of administration, mesalazine is released in the rectum and colon (enemas, suppositories) or in the terminal small intestine and colon (Table).
