Salicylic ointment 2% 25 g

Pharmgroup:

Keratolytic agent.

Pharmaceutical action:

It has keratolytic, antiseptic, locally irritating and anti-inflammatory action.

Promotes softening and peeling of the keratinized layer of the epidermis.

Pharmacokinetics:

Systemic absorption is possible when used externally.

Indications

Inflammatory and infectious skin lesions, burns, dyskeratosis, ichthyosis, hyperkeratosis, psoriasis.

Composition

100 g of ointment for external use contains:

Salicylic acid – 2 g,

excipients:

Vaseline to 100 g.

How to take, the dosage

Salicylic ointment is used topically in the form of applications, applied in a thin layer on the wound surface and covered with a sterile napkin or a sterile dressing soaked in ointment is applied to the wound.

Before applying the dressing the wound is cleaned of necrotic tissues, blisters are opened, washed with an antiseptic solution.

The dressing is changed once in 2-3 days until complete purulent-necrotic masses are cleared.

The consumption of Salicylic ointment per one bandage depends on the wound extent and averages 0.2 g per 1 cm2 of the wound surface. The duration of the treatment course is 6-20 days.

Special Instructions

Do not apply to birthmarks, warts, including genital or facial areas.

When treating children, avoid treating multiple areas of skin at the same time.

In pregnant women, only a limited amount of the product should be used to treat calluses and corns (not more than 5 ml).

In case of contact with mucous membranes, rinse the area with plenty of water.

Please note that in skin diseases with hyperemia and inflammation (including psoriatic erythroderma) or with superficial blistering lesions, salicylic acid absorption may be increased.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to salicylic acid, childhood.

Side effects

Rarely, local, allergic reactions in the form of itching, burning, skin rash.
