Rovatinex is nephrolitholytic, antispasmodic, diuretic.

Pharmacodynamics

Rovatinex promotes the disintegration and excretion of renal stones and stones of the urinary tract.

The terpenes, such as borneol, undergo metabolic changes and are excreted in the urine – mainly in the form of glucuronides, which increases the solubility of calcium salts (major components of kidney and urinary tract stones). In a number of experiments on animals the inhibitory effect of Rovatinex on the formation of kidney stones and urinary tract stones has been established.

Rovatinex has an antispasmodic effect, promotes the passage of stones through the urinary tract, reduces pain of renal and ureteric colic, increases renal blood flow, improving their function and increasing diuresis.

It has anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial action (against a number of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms), increases the content of protective colloids and glucuronic acid in urine.

Special instructions

Rowatinex is not recommended for use in patients with severe renal colic, anuria or severe urinary tract infection.

Pregnancy

Not recommended for children under 6 years of age; in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
children’s age (up to 6 years).

With caution: taking oral anticoagulants and drugs predominantly metabolized in the liver.

Side Effects

A small number of patients reported mild and transient stomach discomfort. Vomiting was very rare. In 2 cases, drug intolerance was observed (reason unknown).

Interaction

Caution should be exercised when using the drug in patients taking oral anticoagulants or other drugs that undergo metabolism in the liver.

Overdose

Treatment: if the drug has been taken recently, it is necessary to rinse the stomach, monitor the patient, using symptomatic treatment if necessary.

Monitoring of cardiac, respiratory, renal and hepatic functions is recommended.
