Quatran xylo, drops 0.05% 15 ml

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic action, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal cavity mucosa, eliminating edema and hyperemia. It relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis. The action of the drug starts within a few minutes after application and lasts for 12 hours.

The supporting ingredient seawater helps maintain the normal physiological state of the nasal mucosa which reduces symptoms of irritation and dryness caused by prolonged use of xylometazoline.

Special Instructions

The nasal passages should be cleaned before use.

The recommended doses should not be exceeded, especially in children and the elderly.

Do not use for more than 7 days unless your doctor has recommended a different duration of treatment. If symptoms persist after this time, a doctor should be consulted.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, arterial hypertension, tachycardia, marked atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, conditions after transsphenoidal hypophysectomy, inflammatory diseases of the skin or mucous membrane of the nasal anteroom, thyrotoxicosis, pregnancy, surgical interventions on the meninges (in anamnesis), childhood (under 2 years – for 0.05% nasal drops Up to 6 years – for nasal drops of 0.1%).

Do not use with therapy with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclic and tetracyclic antidepressants, other local vasoconstrictors (decongestants), as well as with other drugs that increase blood pressure.

Side effects: With frequent and/or prolonged use – irritation and/or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, tingling, sneezing, hypersecretion.

Rarely – nasal mucous membrane edema, palpitations, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, insomnia, visual disturbances; depression (with long-term use of high doses).

In hypersensitivity to adrenergic drugs, accompanied by insomnia, dizziness, arrhythmia, tremor, increased blood pressure, porphyria, hyperthyroidism, pheochromocytoma, coronary heart disease (angina), prostatic hyperplasia, diabetes, breastfeeding period.

Side effects

Overdose

Symptoms: increased side effects.
