Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pseudomonas Bacteriophage has the ability to selectively destroy pseudomonas microorganisms.

The bactericidal effect of bacteriophages is caused by the specific lysis of pathogenic bacteria in the inflammatory focus. Bacterial death occurs due to adsorption of virulent bacteriophages on the surface of the microbe cell, penetration into it and intensive reproduction, use of cell organelles for their needs, after which the cell dies.

Peculiarities of pharmacokinetics have not been studied.

Composition

The Pseudomonas Bacteriophage drug solution includes purified sterile filtrate of Pseudomonas phagolysate.

Additional substance is quinosol (preservative).

How to take, the dosage

The instructions allow using the drug orally, topically in the form of irrigations and applications, rectally, by injection into the nasal cavity, wounds, uterus, vagina, sinuses, as well as for drainage of cavities. Recommended dosage for patients over 8 years of age is up to 30 ml of solution when administered orally and up to 50 ml when administered as an enema. Treatment of localized diseases of purulent-inflammatory nature shall be carried out by a combination of local treatment and oral administration of the drug for 1-3 weeks.

Depending on the nature of the infection the remedy can be used in the following ways.

In the form of lotions, tamponization and irrigation in amounts up to 200 ml. In case of an abscess after emptying its cavity, the drug shall be administered internally in a smaller amount than the amount of pus removed. When treating osteomyelitis, 10-20 ml of the drug is injected into the wound after surgical treatment.

When injecting into the pleural, articular or other confined cavities a capillary drainage is installed, by means of which the drug is administered in 100 ml over several days.

In case of pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis the drug is taken orally. In case of drainage of renal pelvis or bladder cavity the drug shall be administered through the drainage tube twice a day either 30-40 ml into the bladder cavity or 6-7 ml into renal pelvis.

In case of gynecological lesions of purulent-inflammatory nature the drug is injected into the vagina or uterus 7-10 ml every day. If colpitis is treated by irrigation with 10 ml or tampon twice a day for 2 hours.

In case of diseases of the throat, ear and nose of purulent-inflammatory nature the product is administered 2-10 ml up to 3 times a day. Bacteriophage is used for irrigation, dipping, gargling, insertion of turundae for 1 hour.

In case of intestinal dysbacteriosis and enteral infections the drug is taken orally three times a day an hour before meals for 1-3 weeks. A combination of twice-daily oral administration with combined rectal administration of the age dose once a day in the form of an enema after defecation is also allowed.

The drug is used in children under 6 months of age including premature infants

In case of enterocolitis, sepsis of newborns Pseudomonas Bacteriophage is administered by means of high colonic enemas 5-10 ml up to 3 times a day. Oral administration of the drug by mixing with breast milk is also possible. The course of treatment lasts up to 15 days.

In order to prevent enterocolitis, sepsis in intrauterine infection or the risk of hospital infection in newborn children the drug is used twice a day in the form of enemas for a week.

In the treatment of pyodermia, omphalitis, septic wounds the drug is used in the form of applications of soaked gauze cloth which is applied to the wound surface twice a day.

Interaction

The drug may be combined with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agents.

If antiseptics have been used for treatment before using the drug, the wound should be rinsed with sodium chloride solution.

Special Instructions

The bottle should be shaken prior to use to assess clarity and sediment. If turbidity or sediment is detected, the product should not be used!

When the product has a climate favorable to the growth of microorganisms from the environment that cause clouding of the solution, the following rules should be followed for opening the vial:
