Interaction

Diuretics and glucocorticosteroids increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance (hypokalemia) when taking high doses of the drug.

Directions for use

Orally. The following dosing regimen is recommended: Adults and children over 10 years of age: 10-20 drops (5-10 mg) per day. 4 Children 4-10 years of age: 5-10 drops (2.5-5 mg) per day.

Special Instructions

Like other laxatives, Pikodinar should not be taken daily without medical advice for more than 10 days. If daily intake of laxatives is necessary, find out the cause of constipation.

Side effects

Side effects are rare when taking the drug for short periods of time. Possible side effects are classified by frequency of occurrence as follows: very frequently (≥ 1/10), frequently (≥ 1/100, < 1/10), infrequently (≥ 1/1000, < 1/100), rarely (≥ 1/10000, < 1/1000), very rarely (< 1/10000), frequency unknown (no data on the incidence of adverse reactions are currently available).

Overdose

Symptoms When taking high doses, diarrhea, dehydration, decreased blood pressure, disrupted water-electrolyte balance, hypokalemia, seizures are possible. In addition, there are reports of cases of ischemia of the muscles of the large intestine associated with taking doses of the drug significantly higher than those recommended for the usual treatment of constipation.

Pregnancy use

There are no data on reliable and well-controlled studies in pregnant women.
