Pharmacological properties

It has a laxative effect that occurs after 8-12 hours. The laxative effect is due to the content of anthraglycosides acting on the receptors of the large intestine and increasing its peristalsis, which leads to faster emptying of the intestine.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, spastic constipation, spastic colitis, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, appendicitis, intestinal obstruction, pinched hernia, perforated ulcer, proctitis and hemorrhoids (acute phase), “Abdominal pain of unclear genesis, metrorrhagia, gastrointestinal bleeding, cystitis, water-electrolyte metabolism disorders, pregnancy, lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption (due to lactose); under 18 years of age.

Cautions

Breastfeeding. People with diabetes and people on a low-carb diet.

Overdose

Symptoms: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, water-electrolyte metabolism disorder, discolored urine, skin rash, seizures, vascular collapse, confusion.

Treatment: symptomatic.
