Blocker of histamine H1-receptors. It has anti-allergic and antipruritic effects. Reduces increased capillary permeability associated with allergic reactions. When applied to the skin it reduces itching and irritation caused by skin allergic reactions.
The drug also has a pronounced local anesthetic effect.

- Cutaneous itching of different origin (except related to cholestasis) in: itching dermatosis; eczema; urticaria; insect bites.
- Sun burns, domestic and industrial burns (mild).

Active ingredients:
dimetindene maleate 100 mg.
Auxiliary substances:
dinatrium edetate – 50 mg,
carbomer – about 900 mg,
sodium hydroxide (30% solution) – about 1 g,
benzalkonium chloride – 5 mg,
propylene glycol – 15 g,
purified water – about 82.9 g.
How to take, the dosage
It is used externally. The gel should be applied to the affected areas of the skin 2-4 times a day.
In cases of severe itching or widespread skin lesions, simultaneous use of oral forms is recommended.
Interaction
Drug interaction of the drug Phenystil® is not described.
Special Instructions
When using Fenistil® on large areas of the skin exposure to sunlight should be avoided.
If during the period of Fenistil® use the severity of symptoms is not reduced or increased, it is necessary to consult a physician.
The drug is ineffective in itching associated with cholestasis.
The drug contains propylene glycol and benzalkonium chloride. The emulsion also contains butylhydroxytoluene. The listed excipients may cause local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis). Butylhydroxytoluene may also cause irritation of the eyes and mucous membranes.
Pediatric use
In children aged 1 month to 2 years the drug should be used only after medical consultation.
In infants and young children the drug should not be used on large areas of skin, especially if there is inflammation or bleeding.
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery
Not affected.
Synopsis
The gel for external use is homogeneous, colorless, transparent or slightly opalescent, almost odorless.
Contraindications
Closed-angle glaucoma; prostatic hyperplasia; children under 1 month of age (especially prematurely); hypersensitivity to dimethindene and other constituents of the drug.
Fenistil® should be used with caution in the first trimester of pregnancy and during lactation (breast-feeding).
Side effects
Determination of the frequency of side effects: very frequently (≥1/10), frequently (≥1/100 and < 1/10), infrequently (≥1/1000 and < 1/100), rarely (≥1/10 000 and < 1/1000), very rarely (< 1/10 000), including individual reports and reactions with unknown frequency (cannot be estimated based on available data).
Skin and subcutaneous tissue: infrequent – dry skin, burning sensation of the skin.
Allergic reactions: very rare (post-registration data) – allergic dermatitis, including skin rash, itching.
If any of the above side effects are aggravated, or any other side effects appeared, the patient should inform the doctor.
Overdose
No cases of drug overdose have been reported.
Pregnancy use
Application of the preparation Fenistil® in I trimester of pregnancy is possible only after consultation with a doctor.
In II and III trimesters of pregnancy and during lactation the drug should not be used on large areas of skin, especially in the presence of inflammation and bleeding.
Nursing mothers should not apply the drug to the teats.
