Pertussin syrup 100 g

Pertussin is a combined preparation of herbal origin.

The thyme herb has an expectorant effect, increases the amount of secretory discharge of the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, helps to thin the phlegm and accelerate its excretion.

Potassium bromide reduces CNS excitability.

Indications

As an expectorant in the treatment of acute respiratory infections, tracheitis, bronchitis, whooping cough.

Composition

100 g of syrup contains liquid thyme extract or liquid thyme extract 12 g,

Potassium bromide 1 g,

Sugar syrup 82 g,

Ethyl alcohol 80% 5 g;

in bottles of 100 g.

How to take, the dosage

Internal, after a meal.

Adults – 1 tablespoon, children 3-6 years – 1/2-1 teaspoon, children 6-12 years – 1-2 teaspoons, children over 12 years – 1 tablespoon 3 times a day.

The course of treatment is 10-14 days.

Interaction

Combined use with anti-cough drugs leads to difficulty of sputum discharge against a reduction of coughing.

Special Instructions

The content of absolute alcohol in the maximum single dose for adults is up to 1.3 g, for children 1 tsp (5 ml) – up to 0.43 g, 1 tsp (10 ml) – up to 0.86, in the daily dose for adults – up to 3.9 g.

The syrup contains sugar, which should be taken into account by patients with concomitant diabetes: 1 tsp (5 ml) contains about 0.22 CFU.

When taking this medicine, care must be taken with regard to driving and other potentially dangerous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, liver disease, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, decompensated CHF, pregnancy, lactation, children (under 3 years).

With caution. Diabetes mellitus, children over 3 years of age.

Side effects

Allergic reactions, heartburn.

Overdose

Symptoms: nausea.
Treatment: symptomatic.
