Pharmacological properties

The drug has sedative and antispasmodic effects.

The rhizomes and roots extract of valerian has a calming effect. Melissa leaf extract has a calming and antispasmodic, peppermint leaf extract has antispasmodic and moderate sedative effect.

Indications

– insomnia (difficulty falling asleep) associated with increased nervous excitability.

How to take, the dosage

Ingestion, taking capsules with a small amount of water, For insomnia, regardless of meals. In case of insomnia, adults and children over 12 years old should take 1 to 2 capsules 1 hour before going to bed.

The drug should not be taken more than 1.5-2 months continuously.

The course of treatment is 2-4 weeks. To increase the duration of treatment it is necessary to consult a physician. There is no withdrawal syndrome when discontinuing treatment.

Interaction

The drug increases the effect of sleeping pills and other drugs that depress the central nervous system (CNS), hypotensive drugs (in particular, central action), analgesics, which requires adjustment of doses.

Special Instructions

In patients with GERD, symptoms may worsen. If symptoms of insomnia persist or worsen during the use of the drug, it is necessary to consult a physician. The drug should not be used continuously for more than 1.5-2 months.

Impact on ability to drive, operate machinery

When using the drug, caution must be exercised while performing potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving machinery, operator’s work).

Contraindications

With caution: patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Side effects

Allergic reactions (hyperemia, skin rash, peripheral edema, allergic dermatitis), bronchospasm, with prolonged use – constipation.

Overdose

A single dose of 20 g of valerian rhizomes and roots (approximately 39 capsules of Persen® Night) may cause a feeling of fatigue, stomach cramps, a feeling of tightness in the chest, dizziness, hand tremors, dilated pupils, which may disappear on their own within 24 hours.
