Dry cough of any etiology, including whooping cough, to suppress cough in pre- and postoperative period, in surgical interventions and bronchoscopy.

Active substance:

Butamirate citrate 7.50 mg

Auxiliary Ingredients: citric acid, monohydrate, sorbitol, liquid, glycerol, sodium saccharinate, sodium benzoate, lemon flavoring, sodium hydroxide, purified water

How to take, the dosage

Internal, before meals.

Children from 3 to 6 years: by 5 ml 3 times a day; children from 6 to 12 years: 10 ml 3 times a day; children over 12 years old: 15 ml 3 times a day;adults: by 15 ml 4 times a day.

Use a measuring spoon (included). 1 scoop = 5 ml.

If cough persists more than 5-7 days, you should see a doctor.

Interaction

No drug interactions are described for butamirate.

Because butamirate suppresses the cough reflex, concurrent use of expectorants should be avoided to avoid sputum build-up in the airways.

During the use of Panatus® forte the use of ethanol as well as CNS depressant drugs (hypnotics, neuroleptics, tranquilizers, etc.) is not recommended.

Directions for use

For oral administration.

The dose is set individually, depending on the dosage form used and the age of the patient.

Special Instructions

Pregnancy (II-III trimesters).

Contraindicated in children under 3 years.

Children from 3 to 6 years: by 5 ml 3 times a day;

children from 6 to 12 years: 10 ml 3 times a day;

children over 12 years of age: 15 ml 3 times a day.

Panatus® forte is not used in patients with fructose intolerance.

The syrup contains sodium saccharinate and sorbitol as sweeteners, so it can be used in patients with diabetes.

5 ml (1 scoop) of the syrup contains 1.75 g sorbitol. Each time a patient takes a single dose of the medicine, either 5.25 g sorbitol (3 scoops), or 3.5 g sorbitol (2 scoops), or 1.75 g sorbitol (1 scoop).

Panatus® forte is not used in patients with fructose intolerance.

If after 5-7 days of using Panatus® forte, cough does not stop, a doctor should be seen.

Panatus® forte may cause drowsiness, so caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and operating complex technical devices that require increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, pregnancy (I trimester), breastfeeding, children under 3 years of age, fructose intolerance.

Side effects

World Health Organization (WHO) classification of side effect frequency:

From the central nervous system (CNS):

rarely: drowsiness, dizziness.

From the digestive system:

rarely: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Skin side:

rarely: exanthema.

Other: possible development of allergic reactions.

Overdose

Symptoms:drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, irritability, impaired coordination of movements, decreased blood pressure.

Treatment: flush the stomach, prescribe activated charcoal, laxatives, and also conduct measures to maintain cardiovascular and respiratory function. There is no antidote. Treatment is symptomatic.

Pregnancy use

There are no data on the safety of the drug Panatus® forte during pregnancy and its passage through the placental barrier. The drug is not recommended to use in the first trimester of pregnancy. In II and III trimesters of pregnancy the drug may be used only after consultation with a physician. Taking into account the absence of data about excretion of butamirate in maternal milk, it is not recommended to use Panatus® forte during breast feeding.
