Ornidazole-vero, 500 mg 10 pcs

Antiprotozoal drug with antibacterial activity.

The mechanism of action of Ornidazole-Vero consists in biochemical reduction of the 5-nitrogroup of ornidazole by intracellular transport proteins of anaerobic microorganisms and protozoa. The reduced 5-nitrogroup of ornidazole interacts with the DNA of the microbial cell, inhibiting the synthesis of their nucleic acids, which leads to the death of the bacteria.

Ornidazole-Vero is active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica; obligate anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides spp. (including Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp, Veillonela spp., Prevotella spp. (Prevotella bivia, Prevotella buccae, Prevotella disiens); Gram-positive microorganisms: Eubacterium spp.

Aerobic microorganisms are not sensitive to the drug.

Composition

1 tablet contains ornidazole 500 mg, 10 pieces per pack.

How to take, the dosage

The tablets are taken orally after meals.

In case of trichomoniasis, adults are prescribed 500 mg 2 times a day for 5 days. In children the dose is established at the rate of 25 mg/kg of body weight once a day.

In case of amebic dysentery in adults and children with body weight over 35 kg 1.5 g 1 time per day, in those with body weight over 60 kg – 2 g/day. The daily dose for children with body weight less than 35 kg is 40 mg/kg of body weight. The course of treatment is 3 days.

In case of other forms of amoebiasis in adults and children with body weight over 35 kg – 500 mg twice a day, in children with body weight less than 35 kg – 25 mg/kg once a day for 5-10 days.

In case of giardiasis in adults and children with body mass of more than 35 kg – 1.5 g 1 time per day, in children with body mass less than 35 kg – 40 mg/kg/day The therapy duration is 1-2 days.

For prevention of postoperative infections caused by anaerobic bacteria, 500 mg and then 500 mg every 12 hours for 3-5 days.

Interaction

Drug interactions of the drug have not been described.

Special Instructions

When treating trichomoniasis, both sexual partners should be treated simultaneously.

Contraindications

Side effects

CNS and peripheral nervous system disorders: headache, dizziness, impaired consciousness, tremor, rigidity, discoordination of movements, seizures, sensory or mixed peripheral neuropathy.

Digestive system disorders: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

Overdose

Symptoms: epileptiform seizures, depression, peripheral neuritis.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy.

Pregnancy use

In pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding) the use of the drug is contraindicated.
