Active ingredient
Omeprazole
How to take, the dosage
Orally, with plenty of water (the contents of the capsule should not be chewed), 30 minutes before a meal.
If the patient cannot swallow the whole capsule, you can mix its contents with lightly acidified liquid, juice or fruit puree. DO NOT dissolve in carbonated beverages or milk. The resulting mixture should be consumed internally immediately after preparation.
Adults
Interaction
Can decrease absorption of ampicillin esters, iron salts, itraconazole and ketoconazole (omeprazole increases gastric pH).
Special Instructions
In the presence of any alarming symptoms, such as significant spontaneous weight loss, frequent vomiting, dysphagia, vomiting with blood or melena, and in the presence of gastric ulcer (or suspected gastric ulcer) the possibility of malignancy should be excluded, since treatment with Omez® may result in alleviation of symptoms and delay diagnosis.
Decreased secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach under the action of proton pump inhibitors leads to increased growth of normal intestinal microflora and may lead to a slight increase in the risk of intestinal infections caused by bacteria of the genus Salmonella spp, Campylobacter spp. and Clostridium difficile bacteria.
Decreased acidity against the background of omeprazole administration may also lead to decreased absorption of vitamin B12 (cyanocobalamin).
With concomitant use of omeprazole with clopidogrel there is a decrease in the antiaggregant effect of the latter.
Patients at risk of osteoporosis or osteoporotic fractures should be under appropriate clinical observation, although a causal association of omeprazole/esomeprazole with osteoporotic fractures has not been established.
There have been reports of severe hypomagnesemia in patients receiving therapy with proton pump inhibitors, including omeprazole, for more than one year. Patients receiving therapy with omeprazole for a long time, especially in combination with digoxin or other drugs that reduce magnesium content in blood plasma (diuretics), require regular monitoring of magnesium.
