Pharmacodynamics
Antifungal agent, imidazole and benzothiophene derivative with a broad spectrum of action. Mechanism of action is inhibition of ergosterol synthesis (main sterol of fungus and yeast membranes) and increase of cell membrane permeability, which leads to lysis of fungus cell.
In therapeutic doses it has fungistatic and fungicidal action against pathogenic fungi (Candida spp, including Candida albicans, Candida tropicalis, Pityrosporum orbiculare, Malassezia furfur), dermatophytes (Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton floccosum) and is active against pathogens of skin and mucous membrane infections (Gram-positive strains of staphylo- and streptococci).
Pharmacokinetics
Sertaconazole is undetectable in blood and urine when used externally.

Auxiliary substances:
cetyl alcohol 0.035 g, stearyl alcohol 0.035 g, myristyl alcohol (Sepeziol s 14) 0.020 g, glyceryl monostearate (NSE) 0.020 g, sorbitan stearate 0,010 g, polysorbate-60 (Tween 60) 0.035 g, octyldodecanol 0.040 g, liquid paraffin 0.040 g, benzyl alcohol 0.010 g, purified water 0.735 g.
How to take, the dosage
Externally.
The cream is applied to the affected areas of the skin in an even thin layer twice a day, covering about 1 cm of the healthy skin surface. Before using the product, the skin at the site of application should be cleaned with water and soap and dried.
The duration of treatment depends on the etiology (causative agent) and localization of the infection. As a rule, symptoms disappear after 2-4 weeks. The recommended duration of treatment is 4 weeks.
If after treatment, there is no improvement, or if symptoms get worse or new symptoms develop, a doctor should be consulted.

Interaction
Special Instructions
Do not use in ophthalmic practice. After application of the drug it is not recommended to use acidic detergents (in an acidic environment Candida spp. multiplication is increased).
There are no data on the use of the drug in children.
The product contains cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol, which may cause local skin reactions (such as contact dermatitis).
The product contains benzyl alcohol, which may cause allergic reactions.
The use of the drug in accordance with the instructions for use does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (driving, operating moving machinery).

Considering the method of administration, overdose of the drug is unlikely.
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, symptomatic treatment should be administered.
Pregnancy use
In pregnancy, use only if the estimated benefits to the mother exceed the potential risk to the fetus. During lactation the cream should not be applied to the mammary gland area. If it is necessary to use the drug during lactation, it is necessary to consider stopping breast-feeding.
